As consumer law goes, (as I understand it) once you settle for a replacement, rather than a full refund, you forfeit the right to get your money back at a later time. By having it repaired, you may already have forfeited the right to a refund of your money.

 

But it's worth asking for a full refund. If you then wish to buy another saw, the warranty period will start from the new purchase date. If you settle for a replacement, even though that replacement is a different saw, in all probability, the warranty period will be back dated to start from the original purchase.

I think the retailer can have 3 attempts to fix a problem and then you can reject the goods and get a refund regardless of their terms and conditions
