Sort of

I use a 3 inch bit of wire to hot wire the terminals in the plug

much cheaper to replace

I have been shorting across the terminals with short lengths of wire as well ! But I'm fed up with little bits of wire every where, and find that the terminals corrode fairly quickly, which always seems to be an issue at the end of the day generally when its lashing down with rain!!

Have a look on eBay. I got a wireless remote, 2 remotes and the kit to wire it all up. Works really well. It's also got a split charging system on it which helps.

I would recommend switching off the isolator switch each time though. The remote system does draw a little bit of current all the time otherwise.

I did the same, easily wired up, did the same to my tilt trailer, and the truck. Now I have four remotes for different things, so I have to remember which is which!
