Newbie with boggy unmanaged mostly broadleaf woodland...

I own a similar sized bit of field/woodland, though it's not boggy. It is however on a pretty steep north facing slope. The current tools I use are:

Clearing: a Stihl FS400 brushcutter with a shredder blade.

Transport: a trackbarrow, which is a half ton walk behind dumper truck type thing. It's slow, but it's much better than carrying stuff out by hand. Inexpensive, nothing to go wrong, and very useful. Also, being tracked, low ground pressure. I certainly have never managed to get it stuck and I use it all year round.

Before getting the trackbarrow, I paid a digger man to make a level path across the slope.

Little or no flow so purely a 'wick' action. The guidance notes I have seen is to thoroughly wet the bagged mix once wall is built.

Nailing it together with some stainless re-bar seems a good move.

I'd looked at a sleeper bridge but being in woodland the permanently damp atmosphere will see off sleepers in very short order. Not in itself an issue but why keep doing the same job every 5-10 years...

Make staples out of thin rebar To tie the courses in. Drive the odd one diagonally to help tie in as well. Have a decent lean back to reinforce the slope (a batter). Go heavy with the cement mix as water will leach it out of have active flow. If laying in water look for a compound called seeker. Its a anti wash out. I done miles of this underwater on diving projects before falling back into tree work.
