thanks ed i am going fot site meet on thurs i will get some snaps, my concern with 12 tonners is when we are in the coppice, being to large. re the scrub its all on sssi site and spec is to hand cut and winch of , the usual nonsense ant hills ect ect ! i am very familiar with the larger 360 as i spent 7 years driving 12-20 tonners putting in deep drainage and cutting new roads, mainly jcb and hitachi.just not much experince of the smaller machines.

I have a hitachi EX135ur. 14.2 tonnes gross, with total zero tailswing.

On the lift thing, I have found mine to be no more tippy than a conventional machine, .

 

 

I was on about the smaller end of the market. With 14.2 tonnes your not going to be bothered by a ton or two on the arm.

 

 

Mine is low tail swing not zero.

Will, feel free to call if you need any help with this - We have a significant amount of experience of working on SSSI sites, (check out my skyline extraction thread) We are even starting to write specifications for this kind of work for Natural England.

 

And we use our size machine for doing this with no problems.
