Rope protector

for light zip line rigging, (I've seen it before but want to ask people on here) is it safe to just put a carabiner through a spliced eye, wrap it round the tree and clip it back onto it self as apposed to tieing it on with a running bowline, then having to keep untieing and retieing every time you want to move around the tree. Once again I would only use for light rigging and also would a rope Protector be at all necessary?? Many thanks

 

 

If it's just for small stuff with no shock loading then try this.

Tie a alpine butterfly knot about a meter or so back from eye , either take a rap round the tree,or not, clip together, keep binner aligned and avoids cross loading

Think I'll switch between running bowline and clove hitch with timber hitch as there both easy to tie and neither need my only splice eyed rope which is normally attached to my Zigzag thanks

Also, rigging with a climbing line is a no-no... (you probably know that already though 🙂)
