Whats on your harness?

what do you consider your basic climbing gear for each climb? i consider myself pretty much of a minimalist, and other than mt secondary strop all i carry is a sling on a biner with a twin pulley for redirects

I work with the obvious lanyard.

A ri-di the same as yourself.

A spare kit biner that holds my pantin & ropeguide.

A quickdraw sling with two biners. (Can't rely on anyone else to have one in a rescue.)

First Aid Kit.

A good book 'cos my groundies are sooooo quick.

Lanyard, spare saftey strops which i now use for cutting small limbs and letting them hang, saves rope work, first aid pouch

Lanyard, spare biner that I attach friction saver with, spring clip, type biner to clip saw up with, that's hanging from a short Elderid sling.

Simple.

Most important thing I try to keep on my harness is me

Mostly same as above + silky + small swing cheek pulley to use with sling/krab to make it easier for groundie to get saw etc up/down

what type of friction hitch do you use eden?

Standard pruss im affraid. I was taught using single roap (bowline etc) and two side strops 25 yrs ago. Would like to do more eg vt but at the moment find it hard getting the time to mess about (only climbing at weekends so need to get in and finished as priority).

Its good to read the set ups you lot use, when I get time I will start to have a play about.

ok, only reason i ask is if you're using a v.t you can incorporate the v.t pulley into your saw lowering system and eliminate the need for that extra pulley on your harness

It does sound like the vt has more advantages. Hopefully if things keep going well and I go full time I will be able to optimise things
