Hi all, i'v got my CS38 in November so i'm busy going through the assessment schedule, the problem is, as a novice to climbing my knowledge of knots is zero. The one assessment criteria reads as follows : Ability to tie conventional climbing knots with one piece of rope as part of a 3 knot climbing system(e.g. Bowline, Friction Hitch, Stopper Knot) is demonstrated. I'v managed to find Bowline and Stopper Knots on the net and crack them but there seems to be quite a few variants of the Friction Hitch, does anyone have any advice or names on the type of Friction Hitch i need to learn? Many thanks in advance, Jon.

Thanks folks thats great, sorry i did'nt make myself clearer in the beginning but i'm doing both the training and assessment in 1 week. I realise i will be shown these knots on the course but having done the CS30/31 a few weeks back i now know from that experience that the better prepared you are the smoother the week can go, well thats the plan anyway!
