Hired in plant insurance

Hey guys

Just been getting quotes to hire a couple of bits of kit and the subject of plant insurance came up. Is it usually an add on to your standard insurance or a totally separate policy?

Also roughly what are people paying extra to have it? Weighing up getting my own v's taking the hire places cover.

Cheers Tucky

mine is 75k cost me £100 but covers me is stuff does get nicked. suprising how much a digger is worth to replace like for like. hence needing this amount to cover. hate to think how much a mewp is worth. so maybe need a larger in plant insurance if hiring in this kit. or its you who has to make the shortfall up. as if its worth 100k and your covered for 75k then you have to find the 25k. ouch:blushing:

Hire isn't included in a lot of insurance policies. Its worth checking but most insurance covers your own stuff - hired equipment is a different ball game. Hire insurance usually has very low excess costs, and you won't lose the premium on your own insurance if anything happens.

As ever, it is expensive until something goes wrong... then it's a life saver!
