Aluminium tipper body

Evening all.

I'm looking at replacing the tipper body on L200 from a factory supplied one to a box aluminium one.

 

1st question does anyone know of any companies in the North East?

 

2nd question can someone please tell me what the correct name of the aluminium ( boards) or sheets are called that are used? Is is honeycomb ?

 

3rd question if so any idea where I can purchase the correct materials from?

Its not honeycomb, and if it were you couldn't afford it. Honeycomb is the stuff they make aircraft floors with

 

The boards are commonly referred to as ally planks

Why are you removing the factory tipper? IMO I always thought they were a lot better built than aftermarket tippers? I have a ford ranger tipper and I just built box on top

My tipper has the same sides on as yours. but the black side rails below white sides has totally rotted away & the floor has worn through

Well after travelling about 150 miles & visiting 3 companies looks like welder will be coming out!!

£2800-£3500 + vat seems steep to me for aluminium tipper body especially since using original subframe & tipping gear

I've just built another Landy tipper, the aluminium materials cost £1500 from John Adams coach builders, couple of hundred for steel work

Looks like the welder will be coming out.

£2800-£3500 + vat seems steep to me for aluminium tipper body.

Especially when using existing subframe & tipping gear.
