Echo 280 TES muff mod

The stock saws are running an 'over stifled' muffler in my opinion, this combined with 3/8ths cutting gear makes ferra sluggish tool.

 

Now does one simply cut open the muffler and 'de-cat' it, or do you also remove all of the baffling in a bid to make it free flow the zorst gasses or is there some back pressure required to broaden the spread of torque ?

Not done one of these but did a 350 some time ago. Forget back pressure, it isn't needed on this type of muffler. The 350 had a CAT and I pulled it out and it made a nice difference. I can't say if yours has a CAT but the weight will tell you. If you can get a 1.1mm gauge chain and bar for it, run it as it will help.

Cheers Spudders, it deffo has a cat as i can see the bugger hiding in dare:biggrin: I'll completely gut the zorst inners. I'm swapping the cutting gear over to 0.43 too. I climbed with it today as i sent me CS2510 back to RobD, the 280 is a bit of a plump lump of a saw and kinda reminds me of a burd i once had 'relations with'. It got the job done but on 3/8ths it is quite horrible really.

 

Really lookin forward to me 2511 turning up.
