  1. I had professional indemnity in a previous consultancy based business so is something I would naturally explore at the start. Great if I don't need as no point adding unnecessary overhead. Just need to understand what I will need to make sure my customers, freelancers and myself are covered so any pointers greatly appreciated.
  2. Looking to set up a small local Garden maintenance business which will carry out lawn mowing, garden clearance, hedge cutting and low-level chainsaw work. Any opportunities which require a proper qualified arborist, I shall pass to professional friends. In setting up this business I will need professional indemnity, public liability etc and would like to understand where are the best places to go for this sort of product. Also would like to understand what, if any, courses/training are out there for people looking to enter this line of work?
  3. Regarding a haircut, do I reduce the height of the tree and if so, by how much or is it more about reducing the number of offshoots from the main stem? (which hopefully one day will be a trunk)
  4. Found this 2m Horse Chestnut sapling growing where I don't want it to be. Would rather move than kill, so would be grateful for any advise on how and when this should be done?
  5. i did used to wonder about the length of some threads, but not any longer 😆😆😆
  6. yep, suppose that's one benefit of the snowflake generation!
  7. Have an island on a river that can be (not legally) accessed from public land opposite. Occasionally, the local yute wade across to the island and causing minor damage to property, and outbuildings. When I bought the property, the island itself was surrounded in barbwire and there is still some of that around. If I can't use barbwire, do I have to get rid of the legacy stuff?
  8. Please could somebody advise where I could go to find out about the use of barbed wire to fence off land to stop people trespassing onto?
  9. Please could somebody help advise with the following dying sapling. This was planted a couple of months ago, and there is life in the cambium up to the point indicated and above it is dead! Just wondering if I should leave or trim the dead part off or is there something else I need to be aware of? The sapling came from a bunch of shoots that I cut away from a root and it grew a reasonable root ball when stuck in water for a year prior to planting (others from the same group have successfully taken)
  10. Hi Scotty2809, the opening is 25mm so please let me know if you have spares to fit? Thanks
  11. Well if you can't, they can go on the shelf alongside my chocolate teapot!
  12. Very kind of you. Will send size tomorrow
  13. Hi. Does anyone know where I can get spare winch hook gates?
  14. Methinks they would be better than maggots for catching fish!
  15. Hi, could somebody advise me on the following please? Found these larva in logs I've split and would like to know if it's okay to add infested logs to wood pile?
  16. Does anybody know if there is any information out there regarding how much girth tree limbs could put on each year?
  17. Similar problem so ended up buying the stihl tape measure which I find is brilliant. Though the pointy bit that sticks in wood can be a bit dangerous on the retrieve!
  18. Sound advice so many thanks. Interested in your comment about putting the boards in the right section on eBay. Any pointers would be appreciated
  19. Would the mulch/black plastic help with any rod (assume that's what the whips are also know as?) planted in a hostile environment (bind weed, nettles et cetera)? do you know what the illegal ones are called?🤫
  20. What is an arctic timber wagon? I guess by processor do you mean something the chip/process the Timber? The reality is I will be burning 50cm logs in the boiler
  21. Thanks and will look into Popular and Eucalyptus... do you have any pointers I could start with? Also, please could you explain what you mean my using 10" dia lumps as sound interesting?
