Again thanks for all great advice and thank you for this message gives me a lot of room to think. For me it’s all about learning, increasing my knowledge and growing as a person and I’m with my career. I’m planning on doing a fall tree surgery course doing many different things to get me where I wanna be and in some way maybe not cost-effective but for me it’s the passion of working with nature. I do this for the love of working in nature and then horticulture. For me it’s about doing what I love making some money and making a bit of profit

No that makes sense. Thanks for that message. We all have to start somewhere and it’s a little bit overwhelming and of course because I run my own garden maintenance business in some ways it’s harder because I can’t just go out and work with people all the time. Bearing in mind I’ve only got my CS 30 and 31 so I will never be tackling big trees at this moment in time I’m just looking for basic work to grow my experience and knowledge. When you start looking at the sizes of gardens and trees within them gardens even with the qualifications I’ve got now it will still be difficult to take down a tree without climbing it. But at the same time when I try and be fair to my customers but then also I can live in. Hope that makes sense. A few beers on a school night 😂

Oh fantastic comments not taking any as negative. Daily rate are what I do my garden maintenance, figured I would have to charge more for tree work to pay for the different insurance, kit and other bits. I’ve always told the customer how long things take and put more time on for things going wrong/ taking long. if I finish a day earlier I can fit one of my regular garden maintenance jobs in between. Thanks for all the feedback all good points.

Thanks. I get what your saying. That why I was asking to see if I could get gauge of what people would charge. Like I’ve said I spoken with a few tree guys and put forward one day a week to try again knowledge. Been told they will let me know when they need extra help. In the moon time trying to get any work to gain experience behind the saw that’s within my capability and I feel comfortable doing.

I’ve already reached out to people to try and get the odd day here and there but it’s hard when you run your own garden maintenance business and always fully booked.

Good morning all. Hope your well. I am looking for some advice. I’ve just done my CS30/CS31 and looking to do the other course in the near future. The question I have is how do I price my work? I know there’s many factors to take into consideration. What sort of work and so. Is there any sort of guide to price. Logging, Branch removal, felling. The other question I have is there a site check list on hear to print out. Thanks Rob
  9. Good Evening All. Hope you're all well. I've recently passed my chainsaw maintenance, crosscutting and felling trees 380mm. I'm based in Northamptonshire, self employed in garden maintenance and I'm currently looking to gain experience and knowledge in tree work. I guess what I'm asking, is anyone looking for an extra pair of hands to do the odd day here and there for me working with someone? I've booked on to do my next course level 2 accessing a tree using rope and harness level 3 aerial tree rescue. I figure the more experience I gain the more confident I will be doing my other training. Thanks. Rob.

  10. Sound good to me. Where you based?
  11. Hi I’m based in Northampton. Would be interested if you do.
  12. Thanks all for their information. If I’m completely honest I’ve not got a budget at this moment in time, this will just be temporarily saw till I have the money to buy an MS261. I’m just passed my felling and processing trees 380mm. Looking to take on a few small jobs to pay for better kit. Money is tight at this moment – just paid to do the other courses, insurance and kit for the courses. Thanks again.
  13. Good evening all. Hope you’re all well. Just curious is there a for sale section or is there anyone selling a 16 inch chainsaw at a reasonable price? Thanks Rob
  14. Thanks Spuddog. will start and have a look on the net now. Thanks
  15. Thanks Stephen Blair. will take a look now.
  16. Good evening everyone. Hope your all well. Might be a silly question but starting my Cross Cutting, Felling trees upto 380mm. I will be going on to do my other course once available. I would like to do tree work alongside my gardening work. My current business Insurance doesn't cover tree work and they do not offer any cover. Can anyone recommend places for me to look at? Thanks in advance. Rob
  17. Thanks Stere. I know both but like Stihl better.
  18. Thanks Stubby. Always open to suggestions. My other kit is Stihl so am familiar with Stihl products.
  19. Thanks Steve. I will take a look. Thanks again for the advice.
  20. Good morning all. Hope your all well. Looking to doing my CS30 and CS31 course and would like to start getting my own kit bit by bit before hand. I’ve looked on line and all list are different. Would anyone who as done the course be able to help me out with what I need? Also what Sthil saw would be the best for this course? many thanks.
