  1. There is a fair price difference between the two types. The vented are striped with just four loops. The mosquito have 6 loops and are made from mesh material. I want to store around 50-100 of these with wood which has been down for 3-4 months and is processed. So they can season in the bags. Any info or thoughts greatly recieved
  2. I am looking for a snatch block to go with my farmi winch. Any recommendations of where to purchase?
  3. I am keen to know also? Anyone
  4. I am trying to source lorries loads of hardwood for firewood in the round or processed. I have a shortfall this year and need to top up my stock. Any help, contacts gratefully received. Based in Dorset.
  5. Thanks for the input and replies. I don't have huge amounts of experience with legislation for machinery, hence my post. But when I started this job the machinery was here, and i feel i should take advantage of that. Most bigger operations on the estate I will be using contractors for. I want to start as I mean to go on, and that's correctly and safely. It's difficult when you inherit/ buy unknown machinery, as you don't know the history. The forwarder has a bent axle and missing platform for operator (controls on forwarder not in tractor and without platform your stood on drawbar) and the winch has been sat too long in my opinion and is missing guards and desperately needs a grease..personally I don't want to use them until there sorted and fit for purpose. That's why both crane and winch are being serviced by a agri engineer (I cant find a specialised forestry engineer here in Dorset) I will get manuals, regs and receipt all in a file once done.
  6. Thanks for your help all Being new to this managing machinery business this helps alot. So what's the first step? Get all machinery inspected? If so by whom? Where can I get some advice on the phone on regs before I start? Fisa? Or do you need to be member.
  7. It has PTO guarding etc. But no ticket I am aware of. I have also a forwarded trailer and log splitter, do these need loler tickets,?
  8. I have started a new job and there is a farmi winch for me to use which has sat outside for two years plus. It has no guard screen and is looking pretty worn. Pretty sure it's a 5ton, and is rope operated. I am not comfortable to use it in the current condition. Any advice on getting it serviced? What's the legal requirements for servicing etc, safety standards etc? Cheers in advance
  9. Hi thanks for your reply, yeh I thought maybe a bit light, but just don't load it so high hey. I think the new holland is a better buy and mores hp. But the valmet is more robust but higher hours. Decisions.
  10. The online wmp system is terrible also... Seriously frustrating
  11. Hi all, I am after a bit of advice twixt a Valmet and a New Holland. I manage woodlands on an estate and am after a tractor ro run a palms forwarder traile, winch and log splitting splitter. Most of the terrain is Small woodlands some very steep where most timber will be winched to ride to be collected by tractor. But i don't expect to be driving the tractor of the rides all that much. I have viewed a few and got it down to two tractors within my budget a Valmet 665 (10k hours loader in good condition, no forestry cages) and a New Holland 6635 (5k hours, loader, overall more tidy than the valtra, not forest spec, but we'll shod) I am trying to way it up, I am unsure if the NH is much good in the woods, more plastic, less ground clearance etc, even though a better buy. What in reality does the valmet have over a new holland? Does anyone have experience of these two tractors? Any input gratefully received. Cheers sirius
