  1. I am towing my RaycoRC1824 chipper that weighs over 4t, the Mog pulls it fine a bit slow up hills. From what I can tell the U1300L can tow 10t as specified by Mercedes Benz, but I would need to upgrade the tow hitch which is only rated to 5t. The problem here in Australia is the road regulation only lets you tow a trailer weight equal to the weight of the truck pulling the load, so theoretically I can tow an 8t trailer if the Unimog is loaded to 8t. I have bought an 8t trailer hoping to tow my 6t excavator but I am waiting at the moment before trying this as I think I will need to upgrade the engine horsepower. I am guessing the truck is tuned at around 130-140 hp now and i would like to tune it up to 200hp+
  2. Building on the U1300L allowed for 3.2m long rear body, the U1300L has a wheelbase of 3.25m and the L stands for longer chassis overhang at the rear. These L configured trucks can not have the rear 3 point linkage as far as I am aware, but that did not concern me as I am planning on towing my Rayco RC1824 chipper behind. We kept the height of the chip bin down in line with the cab as it already sits high enough and looking for accessibility under overhanging limbs on driveways etc and also keen to keep the centre of gravity down so as not to encourage roll over when driving on uneven terrain. I haven't really calculated the chip capacity correctly yet I will have to put the tape measure over it again and do some sums.

  10. The left and right joysticks each have what I would call a thumb rocker switch (proportional?) with two buttons below and a trigger button on the front. I will take some more photos today
  11. Hi Guys I recently purchased a Hyundai R60CR-9 excavator and ordered a log grab and rotator at the same time. I specced the grab and rotator setup for a 4 hose install and recently looked into the hammer piping on the digger and now I am not sure it is a double acting circuit. I have a set of 2 way auxiliary hydraulics that are controlled via a rocker switch on the right joystick and have discovered there is a hammer button on the console that needs to be activated to allow a button under rocker switch to use the hammer. I had been told that it may be possible there is a valve block somewhere that can be turned to make the hammer piping a 2 way circuit but until further investigation I am not so sure this is the case. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to go forward with this setup, I could have ordered the grab and rotator with a solenoid to switch between functions but was hoping that it would be a plug and play scenario with the 4 hoses. I have read into a reversing valve that can be used on the arm to make the single acting circuit dual flow as used with augers. My feelings was that it would be best to utilise the rocker switch on the left joystick so both functions open/close and rotate could be performed at the same time, I am not a person with a lot of knowledge on hydraulics and interested to know what would be involved to go this way. I most likely would not opt for spending tonnes of cash but if I end up with a more desirable install over a cheaper option in may be worth the extra spending. I can upload some photos and will be looking over the machine more this weekend, I may have to tilt the cab to get a better look. Just hoping to get some advice and direction so when it comes to talking with hydraulic specialists I have a better understanding of the situation. Thanks Ben
  12. The WD9 is the model I am being supplied, it can do 5 revolutions per minute so 12 seconds for a full circle. Not super fast but I am willing to give it a go in the fixed application that is being setup. I would also be interested in a pendulum mount but will wait for now.

  15. A guy I work with just got this set up, he wants to look into a small grapple saw for Macadamia orchard pruning
  16. They definitely look similar, all powered by Yanmar. I think the Bobcat E60 and Doosan DX62R-3 are the only other options in the same weight class?
  17. Hi Guys Its me again the Padawan learner seeking advice from the experienced arb digger Jedis out there in cyberspace. I am still looking at machines in the 6T category and am now considering purchase of new equipment and so comes up the question of dipper arm length, long or short? If setting up the machine for tree work including feeding the chipper, loading logs, land clearing etc. with a rotating grab would you go for the longer arm option for added reach or stay with the standard length to increase lifting capacity? So far the New Holland E60C, Case CX60C and Hyundai R60CR-9 are being compared. Thanks Ben
  18. Thanks guys for the replies regarding the plant trailer I am looking at and loading it with a 6T digger. It turns out that if you have a trailer with a load that overhangs more than 1.2m you just need to hang a red flag 500mm x 500mm, so with that news and the opinion it might just fit I think I will bight the bullet and try to buy it.   19. Rear overhang on a pig trailer must not exceed the lesser of the length of the load-carrying area, forward of the rear overhang line or 3.7 metres. So assuming the flat bed measures 2.9m as I am told by the seller at a guess it would be close to around 2 metres overhang behind the centre point between the axles, which may work out to be something like 750mm past the rear of the trailer?? Thats why I am interested to know about the position of the arm for transport?
  20. Ok Guys I have another question for you. If I am setting up a log grapple such as the Intermacato TG 25 Pro S to an excavator like the Hyundai 60CR-9A what would be the best option for a rotator setup, a Rigid Mount Rotator G-rotor or a Worm Drive? I believe the trade offs are the speed vs strength, at the moment leaning towards worm drive. Thanks again Ben
  21. Hi Guys Looking or advice again, talking about trailers to tow a 6 tonne machine. I am about to be approved for finance to purchase a machine here in Australia and will need to buy a trailer to float it behind my Unimog U1300L. I am looking at tandem axle trailer with ramps that has a flat bed length of 2.9m before the angle drops down with the beaver tail. I have no experience loading and transporting equipment so I am a bit helpless to know if this trailer will be a good match. The photos show the trailer as is now in blue and white and I got a picture from the manufacturer of the trailer as it originally looked. It is rated to 8000kg total trailer mass. The other pic shows the dimensions of the Hyundai R60CR-9A I am hoping to acquire. I see guys transporting machines with swing boom that sort of slew the cab around and have the boom offset to shorten up the total length, is that the go? Another question is regarding the mass that can be expected to transfer through the drawbar and hitch with a setup like this, would I be right in estimating around 10% of the trailers gross weight?
