  1. Been running a rock stump grinder for a couple of years now.

I had the same dilemma, go second hand or buy a new rock.

It’s ground roughly 150 stumps in that time without any drama. Briggs Engine is as sweet as a nut and as has been said teeth aren’t bad. Broke the tungsten tip off one early on but rock sold me an individual tooth.

With a bit of fettling they are a good solid unit.

  2. My lad passed his test early this year so we bought him a car (seat mii) and he pays the insurance ,fully comp was around a grand with a black box fitted.

Black box keeps an eye on his driving and he’s got into the habit now if being home by 10pm as it affects his driving score being out later.

That was More than insurance btw?

  3. Get yourself some manhole barriers like the ones BT use. If I remember correctly I got a set of 4 new for about £90 off the net

Cable tied some heavy tarp material on and bobs your uncle. They all fold up flat for storage and can take a fair bit of abuse

  4. Does anyone know where to get a swivel chute for a rock 13hp chipper. The fixed chute is the only thing I don’t like . I’m looking for a jansen gts chute basically. Looks like it would be a simple swap.

Dont see any listed on any of the jansen stockists websites unless I’m missing something

Nice work! I'd have been tempted to mount it on the trailer so that it isn't extra weight to push about and could conceivably be used to pull other stuff into the trailer?

I hear you fella. Did give that idea some thought but decided it might be more useful on the chipper for steep gardens or pulling up the ramps on garden steps etc. ?

  6. My rock chipper is now almost 2 years old and has been great. Keeping the blades shaving sharp and regular servicing and fettling seem to be the key with these machines.

Only gripe I had is that it’s awkward  to pull up the tailgate of the ifor trailer by yourself when the trailer floors wet.

Had a few evenings in the shed and fitted a small atv winch to it which is remotely operated . Problem solved?
