  1. Indeed - the cause of the recent outbreak of ebola in West Africa has not been discolsed, although it wasn't an airborne strain, but makes you wonder all the same.
  2. ..see inaugural speech of Dr Eric Pianka https://evolutionnews.org/2006/04/doctor_doom_eric_pianka_receiv/ at the university of Texas in 2006. Goes to show at what levels population control is being considered.
  3. I'm 50 and started doing a day or two a week at the beginning of last November with a mate of mine who's an experienced climber. I absolutely love it and proved to myself that I have the physical abilities and the enthusiasm required. I'm doing my cs30/1 at the beginning of April - giving myself enough time to make sure that it really is for me - both physically and interest wise. So far, my enthusiasm has simply continued to grow and always look forward to the next day's work. By the way, my mate is 63 and climbs like a spider monkey ?
  4. I bought a pair of Husqvarna Technicals yesterday. I'd intended to get either Arbortec Scafells or Meindl woodwalkers but it came down to fit in the end. I'm not sure they'll last as long as the others and they won't be getting a lot of forest time but goes to show you need to try a few on and if they feel right then they probably are.
  5. Also depends on how you see the accounting function in the business. Is it just a necessary evil for full filling your legal duties or is it a tool for helping you to manage the business? Snapshots of actuals against budget are a really useful means of checking how things are going.
  6. Depends on factors such as anual turnover, number of customers/suppliers, how much capitalised equipment you have, do you need a payroll facility, your level of computer knowledge, etc. Sage and QuickBooks are certainly the market leaders in the UK but equally, with a small turnover i.e. below the vat threshold, most small companies can carry out the bookkeeping using a spreadsheet such as Excel. First post for me folks and right up my street being an accountant/software guy who's recently entered the arb world working for an experienced mate of mine.
