I'll check that bmp01, I only reassembled it as per I dismantled it, someone else could have messed it up. I'll get an exploded diagram up on the screen tomorrow and check it.

I know what you mean Spud, the cable setup can be a bit awkward on the small Jonsered saws I had trouble with my 2045 trying to get the cable in properly. I double checked the throttle, I can hear it opening and closing and its activating the choke shut off.

Checked fuel flow by gently sucking on fuel delivery pipe, fuel rose in the tube with little effort, so I reckon the fuel filter is ok. I took the carb off to access the induction tube, I removed it and checked for splits, seems fine, no splits, tight fit on fitting. The small orange seal (impulse seal?) seemed intact and not damaged. I've ordered a new carb gasket to rule that out, the old one was looking a bit frayed after constantly taking the carb on and off. Still only runs on choke, but on the plus side it starts really well!

Right, that gives me an idea what I'm looking for.

Hi, which was the last range of Sachs Dolmar saws before they merged with Makita. Cheers

    Partner 550

Thanks for that, I'll take a look at it at some point over the next few days, if it's sparking and has got enough compression I might take it, as long as there is no other obvious structural damage etc.

Thanks adw, we'll try that in the morning.

    Partner 550

Thanks for the reply Spud, is this a genuine Partner or a rebranded Husqvarna of some kind?

    Jonesered 2036

Hi, thanks for the replies. We've just taken the exhaust off and there is very slight scoring near the top of the piston, the skirt on the exhaust is fine, no scratches or scores. When we just tried it again we needed to put fuel down the plug hole in order to get it to run. adw, where is the rubber induction tube located?, we' ll try a new fuel filter tomorrow, also where is the impulse seal found? Other than the throttle and choke connections there is nothing else connected to the carb except the fuel supply pipe. Cheers

Thanks for that Spud, we are heading out to the workshop now to check it out. Which one of the Husqvarna models is this the same as?

    Partner 550

Hi, There's a Partner 550 for sale in a nearby village, it's a non-runner but the vendor says it fires. Are there any parts still available for this model? Are there carb kits still available at all? I was going to offer £30 and see if he accepts it, he wants £40. It wouldn't be for serious work, just occasional logging/felling jobs. I just fancy tinkering with something with a bit more oomph. Cheers

    Jonesered 2036

Hi, I picked up a cheap Jonsered 2036 as a project for my son and I. We replaced the pull cord, checked for a spark, reattached the fuel pipe, did a compression test and generally cleaned it up. It will only start and run with the choke out. We stripped and cleaned the carb, and it still only runs with the choke out. What should the H and L settings be? Would this be the cause of it only running with the choke out? Cheers
