  2. Do you still have availability on this course? Thanks.
  3. Does anyone use a "Muck Truck" or similar type power barrow for shifting stuff about? I could really do with some powered help moving logs, chip, soil etc but aren`t able to reach the skid steer type price bracket. Are these little machines any good? Thanks
  4. Hi Looking to get our climbing kit inspected. We`re new to climbing and are based near Grimsby, Lincolnshire. Our kit is due it`s first inspection and I`m struggling to find anyone local that can do it. Is there anyone out there? Cheers Gary
  5. Does anyone know if Ian Morgan Arb Training in Staffordshire is still operating? I did my CS38 there back in January and was due to do my CS39 in March but it got cancelled due to the Corona. I`ve phoned and emailed but got no answer. Just wondering if anyone local had heard anything?

    Root Wrap?

I would if it weren`t for the fact that there are references elsewhere to "Root Ball" planting methods. If anyone could define "Root wrapped" to me that would be helpful, even if it`s just for future reference. I`ve found a reference to it in a Forestry Commission Nursery Stock Root Systems and Tree Establishment Paper from 1990 but it really doesn`t explain it.

    Root Wrap?

I`ve been asked to quote on a landscaping job to supply and plant a large number of trees. The specification past to me from the construction company is to supply 6/8cm girth, root wrapped. Am I correct that root wrapped is the same as root ball as I`m not familiar with this term? I`ve had this discussion with the landscape designer that tells me that root wrapped is the same as bare root? I only have a level 2 in Arb and this guy has a degree in landscape design. Am I just showing my lack of education or am I right?
  8. Thanks. I`ve looked at the Skarper C90 but I`m just concerned about parts and after sales as it doesn`t seem to be such a common machine.
  9. Apologies if it's been covered before in this thread but I`m looking for some advice. After spending 2.5K on waste disposal fees last year I`m beginning to think that it`s time we financed a small chipper. I`ve wasted money on a small MTD chipper/shredder in the past that was completely useless so don`t want to make the same mistake again. I`m looking at the Skarper C90, JO Beau M300 and Greenmech CS100. I`ve read that they are all good popular machines. I do however need one to be able to handle Leylandii as we end up with a lot of that nasty stuff. I also need it to be able to through the chip quite far to the back of a williams trailer (about 3m) and also be able to chip into a wheelie bin as an option. It`s also important that it`s easily unblockable. The last useless machine I had required something like 9 bolts to be removed and an engineering degree to unblock. Thanks for your wisdom.
  10. I can`t say that I've had this particular problem but I`ve had the control board replaced on one under warranty and replaced the micro switch twice. The machine is less than 2 years old. I also own a Stihl HSA 86 which is pretty useless other than for trimming privet. Battery equipment still has a long way to come. I`ve got 3 other Stihl hedge trimmers that are petrol and don`t cause me half as much trouble even though they are 5 or 6 years old and get heavy use.
