  1. Hi everyone. Just been to my local greenmech dealership and been quoted 5000.00 for a brand new cs100. This price includes the vat. It doesn't come with a trailer. Is this price reasonable? Also, how feasible is it to get these machines into the back of a panel van or twin axle trailer? Thanks.
  2. For my setup a micro chipper is the best option. I don't have the need for a large chipper and I don't have a tipper van so I'm going down the micro chipper route. They are surprisingly good. I'm just wandering on the price I've been quoted.
  3. Is 5000.00 including the vat (no trailer) a good price for a brand new cs100?
  4. Hello. I'm looking to buy a mini chipper just before the main tree season and have narrowed it down to the skarper c90 and greenmech cs100. I have used a Haecksler which is the same as the Skarper and it is a capable machine but I have no experience of the greenmech. Can anyone tell me how easy the blades are to change, ease of moving it, how practical it is to get into a panel van/trailer, how reliable they are. Also why is the current selling price of the cs100 and also how much do a set of blades cost. Many thanks everyone.
  5. Hello and thankyou. I have a mixture of wood. Some Ash, oak, cherry and some pine. All are well seasoned. Is yacht varnish or polyurethane varnish any good?
  6. Hello all. I want to make some stools etc for the garden from some big logs I have seasoned. I have sanded them up and they look lovely but I can't find any information on what to paint on them to protect them from the elements. I want something that is tough yet still brings out the grain. Thankyou.
  7. I've not seen this before either. Even individual pieces of wood chip have developed this glutinous slime. I have barrowed quite a bit into a heap in my back garden so I hope it isn't bad news as I don't want to have to take it all out again.
  8. I wonder if this would make the sticky substance though?
  9. Took a very large elm tree down 3 days ago. The tree was about 50ft tall and alive! I chipped into my trailer and now the chips on the surface, bits of chip stuck to my van, individual pieces on the floor have all developed this gel / clear slime over the tops and it's very sticky. I've never seen this before. Is it problematic, is it safe, will it disappear?
  10. Aahhh yes. You would have to leave very early to get to site at mine for 0830!
  11. I'm in lincoln.
  12. Have you checked out the skarper c90 sold by fr Jones. It's the new haecksler. 4200 Inc vat and looks very easy to change the blades. I have used the haecksler equivalent and it chips very well and pulls the brash in quick. Also consider putting a deposit down and taking finance.

  14. Hi. Iam a one man band, sole trader with an established business of ten years. I carry out hedge work, shrub pruning, tree surgery etc. Iam nearing 40 and I need to cut my hours as I can't physically do it as I am. I don't want to give up the business but I need help (part time hours I think) sometimes to work alongside me but also someone I can send to a job on my behalf. I have a couple of subcontractors who help me on bigger jobs but from experience they are not reliable long term as the decent ones are busy themselves. Has anyone been in a similar position and can offer advice on a way forward that may take my business into the future. Thankyou.
  15. Thanks for the reply. I've been speaking to the UK distributor for the skarper! It's the same machine as the haecksler 3 but has welded on tie down brackets and apparently the hopper is slightly different. After watching videos they do seem to chip fast and are much more affordable.
  16. Thankyou for the replies. My van has lots of decent lashing points so shouldn't be a problem. I'm contemplating the rotating discharge or not. When speaking to the Jo beau dealer yesterday's he told me the recent machines now come with quick release catches on the bottom of the discharge so they can be unclipped for maintenance or actually turning it around 180 degrees and clipping it back on facing the other way!
  17. Hello. I've read through that too. There seems a lot odd people leaning towards the cs100 but it's just too heavy for what I want. I was after reviews from Jo beau owners and their thoughts.
  18. Hello. Im looking to invest in a mini chipper this year. I only generally work on smaller and medium sized trees and hedge reductions. I have a van and twin axle trailer. I currently brash into my trailer and go to the green waste tip most days. I have access to a timberwolf 230 for bigger jobs from a local hire centre. I want a mini chipper to make my life easier and she time. I've looked into greenmech cs100, haecksler 4 (my friend has one and is very good) and the Jo beau 300. I'm leaning towards the Jo beau. My reasons are... Dealer only 30 minutes away, narrower than the other two, lower in height so I can get into my van without removing discharge and most importantly it is 50kg lighter than the other two so I should be able to pull onto my van. I tried getting the haecksler into my van and had to dismantle it to make it lighter and shorter to fit under the roof. My question is, are they good, reliable machines, do they pull the brash in well and are they worth the extra money? Many thanks.
  19. Good morning. I could do with some help please. I have a top handled 201 and it has developed a petrol leak when it's on my harness. In storage or when being used horizontally it's fine but when it's been hung it starts to leak out. It seems to run out from near the carb area/from under air filter cover and runs down towards the handle. I've had the back off and can't see anything obvious. Could it be the tank breather leaking or does anyone else have any other ideas? I'm not a brilliant mechanic so keep things in simple terms please?. Many thanks.
  20. There isn't main trunks as such anymore, just a mass of stems coming out the ground throughout the whole length of the hedge where the Dogwood has suckered off and put up a new plant.
  21. I don't have access to that sort of equipment, plus it's in a cemetery so I don't want to take big plant in there. It was more the question if it would try and regrow after it has been ground. I'm afraid it isn't big enough for turning. It's only a couple of inches at the Base but there's just so much of it.
  22. The local council have asked me to remove a Dogwood hedge and replant something neater. The hedge is roughly 30m long and 2m wide. With it being Dogwood it has suckered everywhere and is a big, mangled mess. The only way I can think of doing this is to cut down and chip up the stems and get my stump man to come with his huge Bandit machine and grind the site over. Can anyone tell me if the 'bits' of Dogwood chips or any bits of suckers that may be missed or left in the soil will regenerate? Am I best to spray the stumps with herbicide after cutting down and leaving the grinding for a later date? Many thanks for any advice.
  23. Hello. Just wandering how you got on working in Czech Republic carrying out tree work with U.K certificates etc. we are thinking of moving there with my Czech wife and i would like to carry on my line of work but im unsure if my experience, qualifications would be recognised over there
