  1. I’m sure the fumes from any fuel aren’t good for you if your that bothered wear a respirator. There other factors to consider too like where to buy it. What happens on a Sunday when you run out and you have more stuff to do are you going to stop immediately and wait or even on a Saturday after 12 pm most place by me you can even get decent chain oil on the weekend because everywhere is shut. If it was cheaper and you could buy it from Petrol stations I’d consider it. But as that’s not the case and I don’t really buy into the fumes being better for you it’s a none starter for me. £20.18 per 5 litres is somebody’s idea of a joke I’m afraid
  2. Yeah I’ll buy some more Stihl files
  3. um hand filling is a bit hit and miss
  4. Yeah I just struggled sharpening chains thought that might be the answer what else make sharpening hassle free
  5. The problem with these fuels is that why would you pay 4 times the price if you pay £20.18 per gallon which is what I was quoted. In 5 years time you’ve bought a new saw anyway. Or I’m I totally missing the point ?
  6. How much do you want for the 038 Lol is it a magnum
  7. Hi chaps has anyone got or used the 12v granberg chain grinder ? If you is it just junk or is it a decent worthwhile peace of kit ? Cheers boys
  8. Sound like good advice boys I’m dying to get stuck in with i I’m struggling with an old 038 Lol cheers chaps
  9. Yeah the place where I’m buying it say just used as normal but they just work in a tractor dealer. So just use it like normal is the general consensus
  10. obviously but its probably going to hammered hard through beech and oak so if I need to baby it for a bit I’d like to know
  11. Straight out of the box lol .
  12. Hi chaps I pic my new ms 461 tomorrow. Having only had old or used Stihl’s before I was wondering if there is a run in period for example how may tanks can will it take before I can give i the beans any input much appreciated
  13. Iv been buying super tack bio from Clarkforest in 10lt drums of a while now but I'm not sure it any good it seems to go really thick if you leave it in the saw for a week without running it. Has anyone else experience this if so what its the best bar oil full stop
  14. Don't know just know the one I had was junk just like there version of the paslode first fix nail gun
  15. Don't buy makita they are garbage. I blew mine up in a week. They don't like running all day apparently Its just couldn't handle carving. I know your not carving but I bought it just to dip my toe into the world of chainsaws stihl will see you right my 038 farm boss is older than me and still runs nicely

    Stihl 661

Is there a non m tronic 661 ? How do you guy find the m tronic saws are they a pain in the arse or can they be tinkered with. Never thought it would be so hard to choose a big saw lol
  17. Hams25

    M tronic

Lol point taken lol I'll revisit mr 661
  18. Hams25

    M tronic

Oh iv herd it probably lethal lol obviously I'm a hobbyist no a pro so you guy know best. The place I but my stuff from won't sell you a 661 with anything less than a 30. Iv go an o38 running a 30
  19. Hams25

    M tronic

I will mill anything I can get my hands on lol the reason I discount the 661 is it kind of a experience 1 trick pony. It awesome for milling but that's all it good for as a 30inch bar is about the smallest it will run ( aparently ) so i was looking for an all rounder. Like I said iv got a 181 for firewood and carving. I just wanted a big saw to cross cut decent logs may the odd windfall and to mill it up 30in bars are over kill for most of what I do to honest

    M tronic

Hi chaps iv decided to buy either the 441 or 461 661 is too big. Iv got a small 181 for fire wood I want a big saw for milling. Is the m tronic worth the hype or am I better of with the 461 without all the electronics. Iv been advised buy the people I deal with that the m tronic saws cannot be played with or adjusted without a computer

    The big 661

Ah right everyone seems in favor of 2 saws lol yeah I guess a little 181 wouldn't break the bank I'll just use the 661 for planking and cross cutting big stuff. Do you lads use ripping chain and has anyone ground everyday chain a 10 degree to make a rip chain. Iv often contemplated it because granberg chain costs a fortune but iv go lots of older chains I could modify to 10 degrees
  22. Hams25

    The big 661

Its mainly hardwood logs I'm planking

    The big 661

Basically lads I'm looking for a saw that I can chop fire wood in the garden and plank medium to large logs. As I need a big saw for planking I don't really want to buy 2 saws. I don't like husqvarna iv been recommended a 576xp but I'm not convinced. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  24. Hi chaps what's the smallest bar I can put on a Stihl 661 a 16 inch will fit but iv herd its a silly idea cheers
  25. Yeah stihl vs husky and what make bar chain combo . Not how to not die that goes without saying lol it like saying don't go racing without a spine board lol
