I suspect there's more to this, I'm sure will come to light
Something like the eco zealots trying to prove a point ;
'well you're up in arms about this one tree , yet you don't mind hundreds be felled for hs2'

Royal Mail: operating profit 2021-2022 | Statista
WWW.STATISTA.COM
The operating profit of the Royal Mail Group did not follow a stable path, and it mainly experienced dramatic ups and...But dubious about your postie, RM was designed to be a spread the costs.
The urban areas paid for the rural deliveries effectively provided a universal service. If I remember correctly it was the allowing franked mail at 2-3p profit that damaged the service, think it was mandelson in the 2000s.
Plus it's probably a bit like the old toyRus, knew a manager they made all the years profit in two months. Rest of the year they could barely pay the electric bill.
I honestly don't know the facts, I was just passing on what he was saying
I got the impression it was the postie's striking against thier bosses , trying to hurt the public to prove a point I guess
-
A postie I spoke to said they were fighting for thier jobs altogether, not a pay rise , apparently RM are going to scrap the red postboxes completely, which means all postie's will lose thier jobs, essentially they will just become a courier like all the rest
I mean, who posts mail these days other than bills etc but it's mostly just emailed, he said if you're lucky when emptying a postbox on an evening these days there may be 2 envelopes
I'm sure I read somewhere that parking wardens are striking next

Shame the greasy-haired thieving bastards turned up and polluted the atmosphere a bit.
Some immense kit there.
That grapple saw rig was ludicrous!
Were they the ones in full Stihl clobber with thier chainsaw trousers tucked into thier socks? 🤡🤡😆😆🤣
Did have to look again and question my sanity,

About 5 minutes before realising how shite it would be. What do you suggest is the fundamental message that the show portrays?
Maybe be a bit more open minded and give it another go, you never know you might find yourself enjoying it, if anything , the comedy aspect
It's worth it
(Sorry dunno why it's quoted coppice cutter too)

Just checked, ours is currently £370 per month. Haven't had any notification of what it might go up to. It's always comfortably going to be under 5 % though.
Still seems a hell of a lot for a medium house with 2 adults / 2 kids
And let's face it, there's people that simply won't be able to afford increases like that

I have no idea what our energy bills are. They go out by direct debit, and I can't remember the last time I looked. Can't possibly be more than 5 % of income though.
We have 2 adults and 2 kids in a small / average sized house.
Would definitely check, in 2 years mine have gone from £120 a month to £330, and likely over £400 once the cap increases
These companies will just increase your direct debit with one email of warning that probably will end up in spam anyway

Seriously?
So a complete amateur millionaire throwing huge amounts of money (his own and grant funded) at hugely expensive machinery that he had no idea how to operate, making a complete tit of himself and bolloxing around in expensive wellies was - somehow - an ambassador for modern agriculture?
Holy *uck…..
Is it any wonder the ag sector is in such a state?
It beggars belief that farmers look upon him as anything other than an embarrassment.
How much of the series have you actually watched?

I often wonder if I'm in the wrong trade. I bought this on a whim last Friday from a local lad who's used it to commute to Manchester for the last 14 months, (60 mile round journey). It had a few niggles, but nothing to write home about, main beam lamp, side light lamp and airbag-cushion warning light on, sorted those and gave it a good look over, there is some play in the steering rack but it's negligible. Paid £450 for it, flipped it today for £800. Two of those a week would do me.
That's a tidy little cash injection for little amount of time/work
2nd hand car market is crazy at the moment
People wacking 10k on nearly new cars, just because they can and know it will sell
Even heard of dealers offering to buy brand new cars back off the owners when they came to pick them up , for 10k more than they paid

That is a MASSIVE house - wowsers!!
Were building control happy with recycled type 1? I though it had to be virgin stone under a house (ridiculously!)?
Building inspector signed it all off along with the drainage, so can only assume so! Bit late now, it's under about 300mm of concrete 🤣

Thankyou 😆, it's supposed to be 'dutch barn' style , best way to get the most room upstairs as it's greenbelt and right next to a ww2 airfield so council weren't loving the ridge being raised too high

Some high quality work on show here already from just a few posts.
Great stuff!
Yes , if I may say so myself I quite like the look of it! Very easy to work with and should last well too

So just as lockdown hit in 2020 me and my dad decided to knock down 95% of his house and 'extend' it.
Had been in planning for a while it wasn't a spur of the moment lockdown project , they just happened to coincide
Most credit goes to dad, with my limited input , we had a Brickie do the block work, dad laboured for him through lockdown, crushed all the rubble Into type 1 for the sub base, then did the concrete slab
Then a chippy did the floor joists & caberdek, we put up the steelwork ourselves, and hired the truck/hiab in and installed the glulams, then a chippy did the techy rafters, some of the compound mitre cuts must have about 5 angles on it which does my brain in🤣, but me and dad did the easy straight rafters, ply lining , membrane and counter battons,
We had a roofer do the main battons and tiling, soffits facias leadwork etc
Oh and a window company did the windows
We installed the stud walls, floor insulation and underfloor heating pipes and a screed company screeded it in a day
Now have sparks and plumbers in and kitchen fitters, but we've done all the insulation, plasterboard and painting ourselves so far
Cladding is a cement board wood lookalike I'm afraid to say, but looks pretty darn good IMO
Still a long way to go, but for what seems to be a weekend hobby project it's getting there 🙄(sorry credit also iv had a lot of mates helping on Saturdays etc)
