Hi all. And happy new year. Looking for ideas inspiration. I have lots of solid flooring mostly oak. I'v recently built a 40sqm garden room from block. I was thinking of do one internal wall in panelling and then whitewashing to break up all the plasterboard look. Was also thinking of doing an external wall in same and leaving natural or painting black. They are block walls. Would they stand up to weather I wonder.? Any other ideas for it. Iv lots of it. Thanks

Yes timber. I also need to be careful when spraying for weeds i dont get cuts/wounds.maybe spray theb prune. Mid-late summer treesurus thank you. Alot of info on US sites were saying spring were putting oaks down as similar to walnuts.

Hi, would this be the right time of year to prune oak? Trees are young 5+ year old. Some are nice straight trunk and a lot have several dominant leaders. Some are also sending out growth from ground like suckers. Conflicting info online. Any good guide online please. Thank you for any advice.

I can stick willow around perimiter handy enough will try that also.as i use good bit if willow.thanks all for advice once again.

Dublin zoo....they won.t give me a tigger!! Have put word around for grolouch....inards from deers. ill dump around the place might put them off. trail cam. arriving weekend.set that up and then get them .will keep you posted.

Just to update...ive been down stalking morning and noon.no sign so next step is trail cam to figure out when there passing and get numbers down. Hazels are important as i make green wood furniture as hobby.alders i dont mind too much. But if they go near oak section...thats a differnt matter .thanks for all great suggestions.

Damage would be less than 20%. No not harsh advice at all. i got a grand for plantation they didnt allow for fencing or guard. i didnt have money to pay extra. I like idea of planting new trees beside damaged ones. I will do this with guards. Cull going on as we speak. we have sitka deer. seems like young deer doing damage. Q. Will hazel recover....they ate few inches off tops? Alders/birch they ate bark. id imagine they would now be prone to disease. No rabbit damage yet. just deer. Thanks for advice once again

matelot...forest nearby has hundreds of 'old' tree protectors may re-use them. Yes I think try to get deer numbers down. young deer. very frustrating. not sure to replace damaged ones or not. prob no point till i sort problem out. have another plot of young oak mix havent got at that yet...if that happens then its war!!

In south ireland.new plantation.no tree guards.they work out very expensive.

Trees planted three years ago.deer are now hammering them.taken bark off birch and alder. and eating tops off hazels. Should i replace those damaged? Will they survive if bark stripped. Erecting high fence too expensive so have guys in to cull them. Thankd

No.im think in 80 years time you get more money for straight trunk not branch wood... So im asking...in the lower picture oak that is planted has a sort stumpy trunk. The whips in a bunch are on groind are nice long straight trunk.will this mean they will mature better. or do they both catch up if managed correctly? I hope i explain that correctly. I just thaught whips on grond in bunch looks a superior tree? Thanks again

Hello my first post. love the for um. Last season i planted 3500 whips mostly oak. Today i was replacing trees that didnt survive or damaged for many reasons. not many to replace really 100 maybe. But the replacement whips are all straight as an arrow compared to what was planted last season. There isnt one true trunk so to say. Is this a concern or do whips straighten as they grow thicken? I will try post picturles to easily explain.
