How hungry are you both?? That's the question!
-
Depends how much you need to supply and how close is the nearest female holly you can cut pieces from..
-
Also as Pete alluded to earlier in the thread you couldn't remotely choke it, meaning when you stretch out and loop a rigging line around an end, catch the Krab, bring it back to where you are comfortable then choke the limb a la running bowline.
Actually, you could continue as usual and just disregard the prussik on the out reach, smaller pieces. It would be good for big bits I think.. No need for slings. Have you ever dropped a sling when trying to tie it? I did the other day and the groundie had to stop to send it back up. With this, it's always on the line!?

Mick, did you see the other pics on page 3 for when blocking down?

Yeah I had thought about that.. It has the potential to get really tight I suppose.
And your right about the remote choking.. Ah well. It looks good though!! I'm gonna try it anyway... Look out below!!!

This is what I meant by a prussik for rigging:001_huh:
-
I don't understand what you mean.
If I get a chance tomorrow I'm gonna knock one up out of an off cut of rigging rope I've got. I like the idea of a rigging prussik, you can cinch it nice and tight to the piece being lowered and even when negative rigging, you can pass the carabiner through the prussik loop instead of a half hitch, the system can then be made nice and tight by just pushing the prussik knot. This is all theoretical of course! I'll upload some pics tomorrow

Surely it'll come back up with the other one? The picture is just a tree in my garden, imagine it horizontal.
Oh yeah, I was thinking the free runner was the other side of the pulley. Ignore me!
-
The ones that do me in are the ones who are so engrossed in texting someone and just walk straight through the work zone, oblivious to the signs, men in high viz, roaring chainsaws and falling timber!!
-
A bit like the free running krab, but I reckon there could be dramas if the free running one is left at the bottom when the rigging ropes sent back up.
-
I like it. Do you think you could get away with using a prussick instead of another krab?

It was a joke steve I won a training course but we can't get a date that works. LoL.
How does the raffle work? Is it announced on arbtalk? And how can we buy tickets? I wanna win a training course!! Or I can trade you a moany, pregnant bag of farts?
-
Tend to only have 'new' stuff in the raffle, otherwise people would try and donate all sorts of crap. Could make an exception depending how well used the item was though
She's 6 months pregnant with our second, excellent at moaning and good at farting.

Ah man, is there no one left who likes Xmas? I love it! The food, the music, the decorations, the break.. We don't really buy much through the year and enjoy buying gifts for each other and buying gifts for my daughter. It kind of signs off the year for me, gives me time to reflect and look forward to the next one

Is anyone even reading the original post? It's his bloody mum. Now, I'm not knocking the OP or his mum, I think it's great. Put yourself in the shoes of a customer. On the one hand you have someone for £20 an hour with experience in garden maintenance, high end power tools and a reputation to upkeep. Or, you have mateys mum pottering around for £20 an hour. Come on people, we all know where your money would be.
Start her at £10 an hour, it'll more or less garuntee you the job, then build on it from there.

Can I raffle off my Mrs? She's doing my head in
-
I like Yale hedera
-
Jamie hi, min 20.00phr as once your costs are paid there's relatively not much in it for your business, all the best
Re-read the original post. It's a job for his mum, not a business venture.
-
Ok I understand , worst case scenario . Hope it works out well.
Cheers! So do I! Should be ok, weather looks ok and I'll just have to give them a little briefing on how to send up a saw etc, etc... Yeah, it's that bad!!!
-
Hi star there people around here getting over £15)18 per hr thanks Jon
Hi john. Like I say though depends what skill level you're at and if you are using power tools. If you just turn up with hand tools and only knowledge of doing your own garden, I don't think it's reasonable to charge more than £10ph

So what we saying.. A builders bag worth? Do you have to cut it selectively? Ie. Does it have to be certain lengths with secateurs or can you supply them with a bag of hedge trimmings?
