  1. Thanks for those words of wisdom Mr Blair and skyhook.... My old set the spike sits lower down the shank guess its a case of getting use to new kit😊
  2. I just bought a pair of these. Used them today for the first time on a sycamore. Every time I climbed with them the shank hit the tree before the spike making it difficult to get a decent foot hold . Has anyone else had this problem..... Do they do different length spikes .
  3. Hello all. Found this growing on a very old apple tree today, can anyone tell me what type if fungi it is please
  4. My mate has a mog with a grab on it. We got stopped while on a tree surgery job at a school. They dipped his tank that was full of red and yes they did fine him. He now runs it totally on white....
  5. Hi Adam maybe you should do a vid on throw lines and tie in points ? Thanks for the info.
  6. Hi I have been thinking of switching to srt with bulldog bone . I climb on zigzag or prussic. My question is do you climb the tree on drt first then install srt or do you use a throw line then climb to the most suitable tie in point to work from. I find that with zigzag its best to climb with two short lines with prussic install a cambium saver at the tie in point and install zigzag. I hope this makes sense .... your thoughts please .
  7. Thanks edwood .How long had you been climbing before you changed (if you did ) from prussic ? MM what do you prefer Blakes or prussic. I have never climbed on Blakes
  8. Any thoughts on the spider jack ?
  9. Just bought the ART rope saver and experienced for the first time climbing without the friction of a natural crotch. However advancing the prussic was a lot harder having to hold my weight ..... is it time to switch to a zigzag or even a spider jack ? your thoughts please.
  10. Thanks Adam .... what next retrievable tie in points ? Keep the vids coming its useful stuff for new climbers .
  11. hi Adam, being new to SRT can you tell me the knots you used alpine butterfly ? and ...
  12. Hi, I only passed my 38/39 back in the summer and have been climbing the odd day with various tree surgeons. I was wondering what other people use as a safety back up when dismantling a single stem with spikes and flip line . We were shown to attach our main line around the trunk with a running bowline and move it up or down with the flip line as a safety back up. This does not feel safe to me is there a better way to stop a fall or is the method I am using the best way / only way to do it and I just need to put more faith in spikes and flip line ?
