  1. Hi Anyone know where you can buy tree planting bags from in the UK? Searching on Google only seems to bring up stuff in America, Canada, Australia etc any help would be appreciated Cheers:thumbup:
  2. Hi Just wondering if there is any one who does a practice session prior to comps in cumbria? I fancy doing a few comps but would like to have a go before actually entering one if that makes sence. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers
  3. Hello Just wondering if anyone is looking to employ a full time climber in west and south lake's? I hold my climbing and rescue tickets and first aid etc. Many thanks
  4. I spoke to Lyon about this and the grillon isn't certified as a belay device and should not be used as one as it hasn't been subjected to the same load testing. BS EN 15151 is the European standard for belay devices and the grillon does not meet this standard
  5. Yea will have to look into the insurance bit. And I also thought a grigri would be appropriate. When I said a grillon wasn't suitable I got told they are the same thing and that I didn't have a clue what I was talking about so I rang up Lyon who are the importer and distributed of petzl kit in the UK and they said that it isn't certified for use as a belay device.
  6. Ment petzl grillon not petal grilling its this dodgy tablet that I'm not used to
  7. But would you be able to say that? I've taught outdoor activities for 5 years and ran multiple tree climbing sessions but only once I had been trained and assessed usually by an external trainer and as an in house assessment for that particular outdoor centre. Work are planning this event and I think it sounds dodgy. Especially when one of the lads said we would use a petal grillon as a belay device. Even though it's only a work positioning device and isn't certified for belaying. So clearly the competence isn't there. Especially regarding kids
  8. Does anyone know if you need specific tickets to take children tree climbing. Talking about belaying them up there then lowering them to the ground. Any help would be much appreciated and all the lads running the session are tree climbing trained.
  9. Mine is a temperamental pain in the a*** but only on a warm start after refueling. We recently went from stihl oil to husky oil and it didn't seem to like it. So let it idle for a bit maybe 4 to 5 mins and it seams to have sorted itself out. Have also done it when the air temperature chances rapidly. So if it's a warm and dry winters day when you switch it off it then doesn't seem to run right when you start it in the snow and ice next time/day so I let it reset then but overall it doesn't need it really.
  10. Currently employed as a forester Monday to Friday. but seeking occasional small jobs, short term contracts or freelance forestry or climbing. hold CS30/31. just completed training for climbing and Ariel saw work training although should have an assessment within a month or possibly 6 weeks. available on evenings and weekends. work must be local to west Cumbria (based near Bootle) or around Coniston during the week but could travel further at weekends.
