  1. We had two Oaks to deal with a few weeks ago . One which had a lot of dead growth and had caught fire and the second Oak had the top 25 foot dead. James did the the fire damaged one and I did the other. We both were throwing up while up the tree after chocking on the dust. Weeks later and we still ain't right. Headaches, pain in the arms, throat really saw and feel absolutely knackered all the time

  2. The Scum - at it again. Vile shitrag.

All journalists are just as Bad. I was one of the blokes that had to remove the holiday homes that were hanging over the cliff edge at Porthkerry a few years back. The pictures in the papers and on the telly were taken after we had got the worst ones away. Anyway the owners of the site asked for a press ban because if we got distracted then we could of ended up going over the cliff. So The BBC chartered a helicopter which came up at us from below the cliff edge. One second we nheard nothing then it suddenly appeared about 30 foot from us. Needless to say that never made the news as we all dropped out pants and gave them something worth filming

Unless it's changed MPs have a second home in London for when they have to attend Parliament. As it stands, we pay the mortgage on an interest only basis. Should they lose their seat the house is sold and the mortgage paid off. If the house has increased in value (being in London it will as there has not been negative equity unlike the rest of the country) well any money left over from the sale of the house goes into the former MPs pocket.

Perhaps the MPs should hand over their London homes to help the cause and instead stay in a travelodge

  4. Wouldnt say hes a fool just because hes not earning mega dosh joe.The guy has a fantastic reputation, hes ticking over nicely with regular customers throws work my way now and again and can spend time with his young family.

Seems like a great business model too me

He's ticking over nicely. Probably not smashing his kit up trying to buy bigger and better to replace the kit that he's smashed. Housing his family and not losing the short time you get to enjoy seeing your kids grow. Yep that's having your life in perfect balance

  5. Thats the best part :thumbup1:[/quote

I have got to admit that yes it's the best thing I have ever done even though I spoil it a bit sometimes by worrying if the phone doesn't go for a few days. But that's me being stupid. Saturday I doing a Stump and a quote in the morning racing back home, Mrs R will have packed the little tent in the car and we are off the Dorset til monday. Making life the way you want it is definitely the way to go

  6. Tears of deepest joy mate. We didn't drive up we got dropped off with the kit as the fuel pump died on our "new" 6.5t truck. [emoji107]

Decided to have a laugh anyway [emoji41]

    Timon.

How long did it take to ring it and get it out of the garden

  7. Im not really sure of the answer to that. We're renewing them regardless so I guess it's a bit like getting new kit because as your current gear will need replacing at somepoint.

Personally I don't find the idea of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) something to aspire to, but I'm just a tree worker, not a political theorist.

Snap on that one matey. But if we had a nuclear war and where they drop the bomb it's radioactive for good knows how many hundreds of years, if ours have lost the odd year or two of contamination but will still make quite a mess then that's good enough for me

  8.

I know it's bit of a daft question Mark but you know the bombs we already got what's wrong with them. To me it's a bit like me taking the Mrs to the Arb Show and trying to convince her that I need another new rope and the latest mechanical friction device when I already got what I need. As a pretty S**to climber and my partner does most of the climbing mine doesn't get used much a bit like Trident I suppose

  10. Really :confused1:

    What happened to society?

I have friends and family with very different circumstances to myself and I love my country, I want whats good for us all.

I know that 5 years of Corbyn would lead to 15 years of misery for us all. The previous cuts would feel like a spending spree.

There is no magic money tree.

Your right Gordon Brown had it cut down and gave it away along with our gold reserves

  11. Daft question. I know but wasn't the true labour party disbanded by Tony Blair as its political stance was too far removed from British Society. It was then reran dedicated with the name New Labour which mirrored more more ground politics and in effect nicking The Lib Dems politics. So is it still New Labour or the old Labour now. Its all very confusing for a simpleton like myself :confused1::001_smile:

  12. Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and I'm looking to get into tree work in the near future. I'm 34 and currently working as a teacher but I've had enough.

I'm just wondering which route would be the most sensible and future proof! Do I get all my arb tickets or go down the FMOC route?

I've got a good idea of what climbers get paid due to having a good read of many of the threads on here, but I couldn't find any info about rates for harvester and forwarder work. Could anyone fill me in?

If I go down the arb route and do a fast track course such as the one offered by kingswood, do you think it's likely for me to be able to earn above 23k quickly?

Someone said in another thread that FMOC work has better rates than arb, but any advice from someone with experience would be a godsend.

    Cheers me dears!

Have you already had a taste of Arb work ? If not then I would try to jump in with a gang and have a few days when you can dragging brash before jumping in. Yes you can qualify and have the tickets but IMHO you will be climbing perfect trees in your training. Reality can be a bit different so if you can see what the conditions and work load is before making your decision.

    Hope this helps
