  3. Hi All, I've been asked if i would be interested in giving a carving demonstration at a Summer Show In Cork, Ireland. It's pretty close to where I live and it's something i'd love to do ! I've never given demonstrations before and I have a few questions what kind of insurance would i need and where would i get it ? What could I charge ? They are suggesting a barter for a trade stall (there stalls range 200 to 800 euro - about 150-600 pounds) but to be honest i'd rather have the money. What would they need to provide ? Enclosure ? Who supplies the wood ? I'm assuming it would be me ? How long should it last ? Who gets the finished piece ? I was thinking of suggesting they raffle it ? That's all i can think of at the moment but if there is anything else please tell me. Thanks in anticipation, will
  4. Thanks Goodpig, appreciate the comment, will
  5. Thanks for that Rob. I here you are the man to talk to about chainsaw bars ! the saw i'm using at the moment is an AMA Th 25.10 . The bar I'm using at the moment has a tip of about 3/4 inch but I'd like something a bit smaller if you could recommend something that would fit it. plus what would bar and chain cost posted to Rep of Ireland ? Thanks, will fogarty [email protected]

  13. Hi All, The recent storm left me with this stump at the front of my house. I thought it would make a good Dragon and it's turning out alright so far. I need some advice.... I want to use some flame to bring out the detail when it's finished but I've never done this. I would appreciate any hints, tips or advice you would have to offer. My plan is also to give him lots of scales and I have an idea how i'm going to do this but once again would welcome any advice. Thanks, Will
  14. Thanks for all the info dervishcarving, the sugi hama bars sound great, I'll get on to Rob D, cheers
  15. Thanks The wood wizard, pretty new to this chainsaw carving and it was basically the only saw I could get here. to be honest i find it great. when i started i was using a 30+ year old husqvarna my dad had, so this is a big improvement, it an ama, have it about 9 months and never given an ounce of throuble. I'm still using the ancient husky which is going great but it's heavy. I need to update it 20"-25" bar, any ideas ?
  16. Thanks Goodpig. I'm looking forward to seeing it myself, I will ask him to send me some pics when it's finished.
  17. Chainsaw Blacksmith. I was asked by a man in Sligo to make a Blacksmith for a clock he is making. The Blacksmith will be holding a tongs in his left hand and a hammer in his right hand. The idea is that when the clock strikes the hour the right arm will go up and down so that the hammer strikes an anvil. It's a BIG clock, he tells me the pendulum is 5 foot long ! It's carved from a piece of Macrocarpa. I finished it with a mini grinder and sanding discs, a black and decker detail sander and some chisels and gouges to define the eyes and mouth. tir-na-nog
