  2. the course i completed was a level 2 ABC Award is the L4 abc an online course, & is that a national diploma level
  3. yeah i learnt loads the middle of the course is the most time consuming so work hard when you get there, & you will be fine mate! tom devine the tutor is a good bloke and responded to any queries quickly, i'm just stumped on what to do next bud
  4. i have just completed a level 2 arb certificate at myerscough, could anyone offer some advice for a progression courses ( not forestry based though) the course must be online as i work full time. Any help would be appreciated:
  5. i've just finished level 2 Arb certificate at myerscough the college is letting us know options next week! so i'm hoping to become eligible for fdsc. our tutor was really helpful so i would definately recommend the college good luck with the courses guys
  6. The removal of pine trees adjacent, suggests to me that you have removed the maples shelter, exposing the tree to light/heat levels that it doesn't like. Is the dead side of the canopy recieving the most sun light. Also trees can suffer with sun burn, again it may not of protected itself sufficently, due to shade caused by Pine trees difficult one i would suggest looking at the base 1st systematically working up the tree. Soil compaction will cause lack of nutrient/ water percolation to the roots, this can be caused by excavotors, if any building works has taken place.
  7. hi could anyone offer some advice on course progression, i am a practicing tree surgeon at the moment but want to make sure i'm secure later in life! so thinking about the future would like to get into tree survey work, i have just completed a level 2 Arb certificate at myerscough college online. Any advice would be appreciated.

  9. has anyone heard of tree lumen before? i have a question for an assignment! Here it goes describe 2 disadvantages of large tree lumen? i think it is present in secondary xylem vessels possibly to do with leaf flush any help would be appreciated:
  10. cheers skyhuck you got my gist, one lad commented on removing about one and half ton at a time which reminds me of topping out a scots pine, the top had grown over in a horozontal postion, i cut the branch that had loads of tension lleft me swinging around, got the adrenalin pumping
  11. i have yet to attempt a crane job but definately looks enjoyable, surly some of those trees would have sat upright after the weight in the top is removed ??? how do you overcome that aspect of the dismantle apart from pray?
