Amazing idea, stalking can be a solitary sport. I learned most of what I know from YouTube.
Where are you based ?

What do the guns pay for a days shooting?
Anywhere from £150- £1k depending on location bag size and quarry. Grouse would be top

Can get £85 on grouse up here.
Even more for working pointer

I too used a simple system, I was required to tag 5000 the trees for a simple triage survey, so I took a photo of the tree and tag with the GPS of the camera on, I also kept a GPX track of my survey which I could distribute my photos along.
One field in an excel record was hyperlinked to the photo.
That sounds good, but is it transferable to a map ?

It's called gps map 64. Just done a survey of 70 trees in an acre and the result was good.
I'm at a bit of an impassive with this myself as I don't do enough to justify mapping software but do enough and want them to be professional

I'm not sure if this is too rudimental for you but I use a Garmin gps, mark the tree then import the marked trees onto google maps or an OS map.
Not perfect but works and very simple

If you google ANSI A300 part 3 there are various examples of propping. Under these search results "Illinoisarborist" has produced a 60 page guide which may be worth a look. Alternatively you can also buy the ANSI document from Summerfield books
Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
Cheers
Good heads up

You can rent the airspade off an online company who deliver then hire a compressor for the day.
