You need to get a young persons risk assessment, also detail all the tasks he will be carrying out and have his legal guardian sign it.
He's not legally responsible for signing his own risk assessment

Yes it works fine, I had one fail and living in the exotic island of Moray they took 1 week to deliver. The engineer at redwood told me to play with the bolts till the bar was held out. Obvs you need to know you won't have a stop bar !!
-
Do you mean the the stop bar gas strut ?
If so then just tighten the bolts at the side with the stop bar out.

About 10ft. I would of preferred 6ft but there isn't space between the stems
-
Plus it's a lot harder to do and requires extra kit.

I think that's the same as most people Mark, which is a shame as they only see negatives and never see the benefits.

I've cut a few out and opened the wood at the part of the steel and there's little to no affect or damage to the tree. However I see a lot of badly installed cobra that either does nothing or has damaged the tree.
More about knowledge

I prefer using steel for fixed bracing and cobra for dynamic, this multiheaded lime has a weak union at the base so will have steel bracing with threaded bar drilled though the stems.
-
Can anyone recommend a good online supplier of steel wire cable bracing materials please

Good idea, would nice if there was someone who used SRT

Covered how ? Insurance wise I'd say no.

Just throw in this bit of info I picked up - homeostatic agents can ingress into the bloodstream and cause clots at random locations later in life - years or decades later. The chances of this happening are proportional to the amount of haemostat that finds its way into the circulatory system, generally depends on the severity and type of injury when the agent was applied.
For this reason I would not use the stuff, or allow it to be used on me, unless it was life or death. I bought a CAT (combat application tourniquet) instead. I reckon anything less than an arterial gusher will be manageable with Israeli bandages until the ER.
That's fair enough but have you ever tried to apply a tourniquet to the abdomin, groin, neck, jaw

Forecasted for Christmas Eve this year

Yeah that makes sense, was kinda hoping there was an easier way than setting the ladder 2/4 times.
Going to try tomorrow

Video at the top of this page should help a lot
http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/alaskan-mill/97222-how-mill-video.html
cheers, steve
I know how to mill a plank no bothers doing that. I'm stuck on making an oak beam
-
Thanks for that I appreciate the help
-
Ideally you'll need a side mill as well as a standard chainsaw mill otherwise you'll have difficulty getting the beams square.
I have a mini mill, do I just mill the top as normal then sides then turn over ?
Sounds too simple.
I have had a good look back through the threads and can't find a specific video.
