1. Thanks to Mr Humpries.
2. Thanks for the advice. Does the fungus decay cellulose exclusively, or preferentially?
3. Do any of you out there have any experience with this saprophytic fungus? i've spotted it on a beech in a stand over the road from my cottage on a mature specimen about 7-8m up on the main stem and at the base of a large branch that arises at the same point. It seems that the health of the branch is poor in comparison with the rest of the tree, but as i know very little about the nature of this type of fungi other than its mode of decay, i'm loathe to climb it. Any help/advice much appreciated. David.
4. Cheers.
5. Does anyour out there have a pdf of the service is manuAl? I found a link on here from a thread from 2010, but unfortunately it no longer works. Thanks in advance!
6.
Hi, trying to find a pdf for the 200t service manual, I came across your post from way back in 2010. Do you still have it? If so, I would be really grateful if you could mail it to me at [email protected]. Cheers!

7. Thanks for the tips. I'd seen Metreel site and was going to give them a call today. I was really hoping someone out there might have a bust winch they'd be willing to break for spares.
8. Anyone out there either have, or know where i can get, a pulley block for my 1500-25 in the UK? Had a look on the net, but no luck as yet.
9. Thanks to all for the benefit of your experience. I reckon it's time to save the pennies up and pay Gusties a visit to buy a new 201t. Just got to work out which winch to put on Santas list now!
10. Echo 360? You had to confuse things further, didn't you???
11. Also, what do you think about the Tirfor-style winches such as the weblift/jet winch and so on?Just trying to save a few quid.
12. I know that the new saw isn't supposed to have the same power as the 200t, what with the new emissions legislation, but is it reliable?
13. I'm studying for my extended diploma and am expanding my existing garden design/maintenance business. At the moment i am doing all my tree work with a combination of my trusty handsaw and an ms261. I really need to get myself a top-handle, but which one? I have yet to use either huskies new 540 xp or Stihl ms201t, so my only direct experience is of the old 200t. I have been very happy with my 261, and was thinking of getting the new Stihl, however, i have heard it's not so hot and that i would be better off with either a second hand Stihl. though they seem over-priced to me, or alternatively the new 540xp. What do you lot think?
14. Thanks to you both for your help, i'll have a look, failing that i'll get on to one of the assessors i know and ask if he can order me a copy.
15. Does anybody know how i can get hold of copies of the literature City & Guilds published in conjuction with Husqvarna concerning advanced tree felling techniques, (decayed trees etc.)?. My assessor had copies sent to him directly by C&G, but had no idea where i might obtain them. Thanks people.
16. I am due to start the level 3 Forestry and Arboriculture course at Kirkley Hall, Northumberland, and am wondering what other members views on course and college might be? My aim is to expand mine and my partners existing horticulture business tree-wards, though looking at the price of anything arb-related might mean i have to contemplate working for an outfit for a while at least!
