  1. So I went along to a fairly straight forward crown lift today. Some of the lower limbs were touching the house and the whole tree didn't have that "traditional" shape. My problem came when i found these two limbs had fused. I was stumped at this point as my plan had been to take the lower one right back into the stem and leave the higher one in as it fills a large space on the far side. I hope the pictures help to make more sense, I tried taking it back to a growth point and It just looked terrible so I went back to where they fuse. Any advise welcome.
  2. Love my Dmax, nice to drive, good mileage and ok off road even with road tyres. only worry ive had so far is reversing a trailer up a steep hill created a right old stink from the clutch, though i fear this was likely operator error gutted i have only just seen this guy in cornwall though as i would have definitely bought the tipper version.
  3. As far as I know the customer wanted it tidying up and to let in more light on the other side. The trunk splits early into two main leaders.
  4. It took me all day, I had to break some barriers with my climbing as some of the points i was climbing out to were well beyond this mornings comfort zone I started around 8 30 and finished about 4 I think, with a couple of breaks to look at it from the ground.
  5. Thanks guys, my groundy has 3 years climbing experience so I was in safe hands.
  6. Thanks Paul, I shall Lizard up! It is however in the south west not south east, Teign Valley Devon.
  7. This appeared to be very healthy last year, I've not seen chalara in the flesh before, am I completely wrong or is it possibly the case?
  8. Thanks Matt, is that through a hire company?
  9. How many of you guys down here are hiring chippers and what are you paying roughly?
  10. I had this problem with my mates 338, check the connections on the wiring and give it a good clean. It sorted it out, no probs now. Hope that helps.
  11. Don't scoop up the final sweepings of the day and chuck them through the chipper!
  12. The difference in space on the back seat is minimal between the double and supercab, on top of that you get under seat storage in the back of the supercab for basic hand tools, strops etc. I am obviously very biased, but for a work vehicle (unless you are carrying crew as well) the super makes more sense as the bed is that little bit bigger. When I have had people in the back they have complained a lot
  13. Used to have a 2001 Ranger Double Cab, loved it but it was starting to cost me money and time. Test drove this and really liked it, went to ford but they couldn't be bothered with me. Get about 430-450 miles on a tank, good off road even on road tyres though I will be fitting all terrains soon. Are you thinking of getting one?
  14. Just got back to BJJ after 2 years off for training for my job and getting over knee surgery. I know it's all supposed to be technique but going back with log moving strength and chainsaw kettle bell strength defiantly helps.
  15. Hi guys, been on here for about 18 months now just never had anything to put up. Thought I'd just share that I have now passed my CS 38 assessment! 12 months ago I couldn't climb a 6ft ladder let alone a tree. Thanks to everyone who always shares their knowledge and experiences. Stay safe Jim
