  1. I guess this may be a bit of a newb question, Im definately not a mechanic either.

The handbrake on my nissan nivana tipper aint the best, adjusted the cable so the lever pulls up a few clicks, but even after I pull it as high as I can, it doesnt hold the truck on hills, even slight hills, do I need to replace the brake shoes? or adjust them?

    thanks in advance

    tom

  2. Looks a good find Captain, may I ask - how much room is behind the seats in it?

I am looking at a similar set up for a ranger or hilux but require room for the kid at the weekend!

Ali box all the way and personally i am going to have plastic sign written boards made for the box sign writing so its brighter and sharper image (if that makes sense)

    Cheers

    James

thanks! theres about half as much room as a crew cab model, seller said he did have seats in the back but took them out in place for tools.

sign writing sounds good, may have to look into that

I have over 230,000kms on my D22, its been a great ute.

ah good to know, my ones been serviced every year so if I contunie with that should go another 100k at least

About two years ago I find my Mazda seria B 2500(this same like Ford Ranger) sport cab. Great idea for small tree works.

My pickup haven't tipper but it's ok for me.

I have alu box on it and great roof rack witch ladder protection.

roof rack help when you have wood chips on box.

  3. trade it in for a hilux/defender/ranger, nissans are moneypit timebombs engines, transmissions, suspension

dont think I will defenders are too rich for me, heard nothing but trouble from the rangers and no hilux's coming up near me, took me long enough to find the nissan

and cheers guys, will be going with an ali box I think

  4. after many months thinking of (you may have seen my past topic in this section), then searching for a 4x4 truck for the new business, I found one.

After being outbid many times on ebay, then watching a certain truck down to the last 12 hours and having the seller end it outside ebay (always fustrating) I found this on gumtree by chance, viewed it same day made an offer and drove it home (the back way as it was sorn)

nissan kingcab with tipper body added 98 model with 130000 miles

just a few questions or opinions i'd like to ask...

going to build a new chip box on the back, would you guys reccommend an ali back or plywood back? would you paint the new chip box of leave raw colour, ie raw ali or plain wood?

    cheers guys

  5. thanks for the reply Kenty, Have tried all those things you mentioned, cleaned air filter, its about 4 years old but clean, worth replacing you think?

also checked throttle cable, seems tensioned, as are drive belts, oil seems fine.

Thing is it struggles for a few mins then works just fine after. Would just leave it but if there is something wrong would rather have it sorted sooner rather than later

  6. alright guys,

Ive got a pedestrianised rayco stump grinder with honda engine, having a few problems with it. Starts fine, warms up well but when throttle is activated ready for grinding the engine splutters and coughs when grinding the stump. does this for a while. doesnt cut out but shown loss of power. then works as normal.

machine is warmed up for a good 5mins before grinding starts so pretty sure its not that. could it be air filter problem?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks

    tom

  7. Landy? Will carry more than any of the others, easier to convert, better off road, cheaper parts etc...

Brought mine for £1900, tipper conversion was £1500ish

that was a consideration but fuel consumption made me consider the others,, will be used on road more than off road to be fair. But want the option of 4x4 due to nature of the trade

  8. alright guys

New to this forum, figured this would make a good as any first post

Im after a tipper pick up style truck, budget under 4800, ideally 4x4 but would settle for 2x4 if I had to, ideally dropside, chip box doesnt matter as I can always put one on. dont want to go the transit route.

What would you guys recommend? and does anyone here have something suitable for sale?

torn between the mitsubishi l200, ranger and brava, if anyone has any helpful info about either or something Ive missed out i'd appreciate it

    thanks guys

    tom
