thanks for the relies guys
Im looking into the alaskan milling thingy, looks fairly decent, any downsides to them at all?
'Copford sawmill sussex' what sort of price would it be for the 4 bits planked up?
-
Alright guys,
not sure whether to post this here or in the milling topic, so mods please move if apropriate.
I recently felled a mature but dead (been dead for the last 5+ years) and have logged up most of it but saved the truck, which I cut into roughly 5-6ft lengths and approx 2ft in diameter, big enough for the hiab crane to lift them onto the transit, really didnt want to log them up as it just seemed wasteful.
Was hoping to plank them up and make a few tabletops or shelves. However I dont own a milling machine, or portable device/chainsaw mill.
Should I bite the bullet and purchase something similar to this on ebay below? or does anyone have experience or suggestions for milling/planking what I have, I own a ms461 with long bar if that helps.

thanks guys, will give Southern Sheeting Supplies a call in the morning
would rather sheet metal as opposed to pond lining, but thanks for the idea anyway

Recently bought a ms201 from eBay, worked fine for a few weeks then every time you start it there is a high pitched squeaking noise, does it more when cold, revving stops it
Anyone got any ideas as to what the problem is?
-
framework is just some upright 3" posts, coupled with 2x4 timber slanted roof, sides are odd decking or gravel boards nailed to posts with a few inch gaps between lengths, allowing prevailing wind to dry out logs and let air in
will try and get photos within the next few days
wont be sheeting sides, just the top, its slanted so any condensation will run off the overhang
anyone help me out?
-
Alright folks,
have a huge log store to build, have the framework sorted now, just need something to keep the rain off
approx size is 7m x 14m, about 3m high
Appearance doesnt matter as its being built on the cheap (all timber for framework, posts 2x4's etc scavenged from local farms and bonfire sites
Does anyone know of sheet roofing material going spare? anything will do, been looking at reclaimed corrugated metal sheeting (still fairly expensive, box profile sheeting new is very expensive and the same stuff used is scarce on the ground, nearest source is over 150miles away
any of you guys have anything that could help me out? or know of someone that could?
Im located in Hailsham, East Sussex and more than willing to collect/travel up to 70miles for the right material
Thanks in advance

Does anyone have any old roofing sheets I could use? plastic, tin or sheet metal whatever you have, im located in east susse but can travel to collect

thanks aspen arb, will be looking into those, not worried too much about being legal, just when I am carrying a lot, I dont want the truck to give out! or look overloaded
-
Thanks for the reply, my truck has a Hiab crane and chassis strengthening steel framework added by previous owner, couple that with being heavily loaded the front end gets a hammering
anyone know if heavy duty or thicker springs for front are available? or anything else I can try?

I have a newly aquired transit tipper truck 90 350 with hiab crane, crane means lower payload, have recently fitted heavy duty leaf spring, is there anything I can fit up front for extra weight? ie springs or suspension?
any help would be appreciated

thanks guys, appreciate all the info and advice, I'd love the muddy off road tires but my new yard has a hard standing track all the way to the hard standing yard, so wouldnt get the benefit of them and the rocky/rubble track everyday would rip them to shreads!
will prob go for these below, decent grip, larger profile and sensible price for 4!

tried blackcircles.com but so much choice, what have you lads gone for?
cheers in advance

can anyone recommend a decent sign writing company to design and fit signs for my transit van, south east prefered, not too expensive with no rubbish
-
yes must be the same as ours, a shliesing, ours is a 9" feed machine, looks like whoever fixed it onto a a trailer put on a stress control mechanism, getting the wheel balanced and alot of spare parts from the original manufacturer in germany
-
maybe its what the customer wanted? and the tree man gets paid. granted not the prettiest.

I have a nissan navara 1998 4x4 with tipper conversion (transit tipper ram) gearbox went and took so long to fix (part sourcing) I had to buy a transit tipper,
just wondering if you were me, would you keep the now fixed 4x4 for those off road jobs? or would you get rid and use the money for something else? would anybody be interested in the truck? east sussex area

That's the first time I've heard of someone having troubles with a 130..
first problem ive had with it in 5 years though, cant be all that bad, ha
squeeling from ms201 top handle
in Chainsaws
Posted
Recently bought a stihl ms201 to handle via ebay, second hand, few weeks after it arrived and was used it would let out a high pitched squeel or squeek, more so when cold, revving would stop it, if left un revved it would turn itself off and be very hard to restart
does anyone have any idea what it could be?
cheers in advance
