  1. Yeh, I'm in full time employment now just doing domestic work. I wouldn't mind travelling so much if I self employed on a better day rate bit can't really afford 10 quid in fuel per day and 2 hours travelling when on books on a wage that probably can't justify the travelling costs etc

  4. Hi guys, first apologise if this is in the wrong thread.

Basically trying to find a list of companies that carry out highway work, or rail work, preferably highway though in and around Yorkshire. Im wanting to get into this side of the industry so any help would be great, have done some highway work in the past. I'm based in selby if that's helps.

    Thanks in advance

  6. This is a question is ask myself every day. Only 23 at the moment, but you gotta think of these things and make a plan! I have looked into rope access, but seems you need another trade, welde, electrician etc. so you'll struggle to get a foot in the door. Always work for window cleaners though I suppose especially round London.

I plan on been a utility surveryor in the future, or just doing completely different away from arb

  7. The rate varies so much. I have been in arb 2 years, on 18k. But have done lots of climbing, learnt from a very very good climber. Now pretty much the main climber where I work and get chucked up some massive stuff and get it done in a good speed. Don't know whether to ask for more of not, feel like I am been taken advantage of slightly though. Why are wages low for the work, bit de moralising sometimes, guess that's just the way it is now a days!

  8. Been looking into isa a bit more. Think it's more for me. Wouldn't mind doing utility surveying in. Few years so want it for that. The isa and rfs are both level 2, and both well recognised. A

Anyone got a isa arb book that they want to sell?

  9. Honestly don't buy one of these saws, brilliant for the 1st week but after that thy are the biggest piece of shat ever! They are a absolute joke, one I'm using is 6 months old spent the

  10. 18 stoner, I didn't say my life is too hectic to do it. Realistically I work around 12 hours days with travelling! Anyway not the point, i just didn't want it to take over my life for 2 years. If I could work 2-3 nights a week on it that would be great which is what I am asking?

Does the isa arb credited actually mean anything or is the level 2 rfs more respected? The isa does sound like its

More for me in the way that you can do it whenever you want and it is just a exam!

Experiences with any of these would help, it says 1 year on the Internet for rfs level 2, but then some people were saying 2-3 years and its very difficult, anyone shed some

    Light?

    Thanks

  11. Great, I haven't seen the isa one before. Been looking at it, is it American? I have seen you can buy the audio cd but you can also get a book too I think it's around 135 dollars which is 70 quid maybe? Has anyone ever done this qual? If there additional costs when booking the exams etc?

I'm really stuck between 2 mins p, the rfs looks great however just think it will be too much stress, I don't cope well with been pressured, and coursework, would much rather do the exams.

I just want it for the future, when I'm too old to climb i can fall back on something just to say I have it really.

Any more advice greatly appreciated as I feel my brain about to explode haha

  12. Been looking into the online rfs level 2 in arb at myerscough. I work full time so would have to do this online. What I'm asking is this too much to fit between at 40+ working week? Also roughly how long does it take to complete?

Is the any other qualifications that might be suitable that would give me some sort of qual that might not be so demanding? Or possibly crash courses?

I have been arb 2 years now and have a bit of general knowledge so I'm not totally green on it all

    Thanks!
