  1. appologies to you too, i did not mean to call you fool hardy. I should have chosen my words more carefully. I know this is not relevent to this case but look at lord ballyedmond's case. Could help with defining the woodland rather than alternative designation??
  2. sorry for insulting you with an answer, if you already know the answer why bother asking the question???
  3. you still need a felling licence for thinnings unless pre approved under a management plan for a woodland. This may be classed as garden where the authority changes to the local council. Check for tpos or conservation area. Sounds very foolhardy to not consult either the woodland officer or council tree officer in this instance, unless you can afford the potential consequences
  4. i'd be more worried with Phytopthora ramorum than deer, especially with Jap larch.
  5. think you are right. Especially if you can get the chips to a grade that can be used in a pellet boiler you'd be onto a winner
  6. just wondering if it's sweet or horse chestnut? How much is there?
  7. There's not many trees in the Forest of Bowland any more!!
  8. hi I'm new on here. Sorry for butting into your conversation! Got to agree with talisker, stick with the 10yr tho. 18yr is ok if you got the money but the 10 is much cheaper and tastes better too in my opinion
  9. Sycamore is a fantastic nurse tree for ash
  10. You only need a felling licence for coppice over 15cm DBH
