  1. Hey guys, not exaclty sure what its called, but i was doing one of my first dismantles today, nothing huge and the chainsaw got stuck for a split second with one of the branches that was falling. it was no big deal, but i can see it being one if the branch was bigger. What did i do that caused this and how do you avoid it? I cut a notch and followed with a back cut. thanks so much!
  2. just to add a few great eye opening movies, baraka and HOME are really wonderful movies.

  7. By normal prusik you mean a 4 wrap girth hitch essentially?
  8. hello gentlemen. thank you. i need to clarify i have the ocean polyester eye to eye 30" prusik cord. the prusik i am using is NOT the one in the video. it is the 'prussik loop' "double girth hitch". im not following the video just want to be sure im safe. thanks
  9. Hello, im wondering if the standard 4 wrap prussik will work with the hitch climber pulley slack tending set up? Outlined in this video. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K_m3g2LiSU]Hitch climber setup - YouTube[/ame] i used it and it worked fine, just want to make sure i dont fall thank you!
  10. game makes nervous
  11. thank you for sharing the video. it allows one to have a different perspective of life other than just survival. i believe that the teachings alan watts follows would also agree that desire is the cause of suffering. that is how the life seems to have the contradictions, but the ultimate Truth is eternal, unchanging
  12. nothing vulgar, maybe funny or action / adventure or documentary Thanks!
  13. i should find a place where i can try them on thanks guys
  14. cool thank you sir. i am intrested to have one with a real thick back pad because i notice that hurts alot while hip thrusting ascending
  15. Hey guys, I know there are alot of threads about harnesses. my choices are limited to petzl, treemotion, austria, buckingham. I am tall and skinny. 6 feet and 155pounds. 32 size waist. I dont do too much tree work, but would like something comfortable. thanks for any input
  16. thank you, i live in america, near washington DC
  17. oh ok, i was thinking that the ends of those branches wouldnt support my weight, but it seems to be the consensus on here that they will. i will be careful and climb up them slowly thank you
  18. good ideas i wanted to possibly get some wood around it , but not easily feasible
  19. not possible by the homeowner
  20. thanks guys, the polytunnel is secured to the ground.
  21. thanks alot coleman. i have been thinking to use some ropes to secure those small branches from falling over as the picture of your avatar does. thank you very much everyone
  22. Hello everyone. i was really overjoyed when i read all the supportive and positive responses from you all. Thank you very much. I am not sure how you could do that tree without rigging over the greenhouse, unless you can climb up much higher than i am guessing. I have made an illustration of what i understand the advice and my idea to be. Putting a block on the left side of the tree on a tall branch over the drop zone, tying the rope to the middle of the branch im cutting on the right and having the groundsman pull as i cut in order to bring the tree away from the greenhouse side. BIG THANK YOU!
  23. Hello guys, intrested to get any insight on how you profesionals would rig this silver maple. 1/2 the tree has an open drop zone, on 1 side there is corner of a house and on another side is a plastic greenhouse. Main concern is plastic greenhouse, it is not very close to the house. I am thinking tip tying, but some of those branches are quite thin and tall, so might be hard to climb all the way up there. Is there a rigging method that will allow it to fall straight down? maybe by tying a loop around the limb youre rigging and making it fall through that loop in order to control its descent. here are the pictures. thanks for any insight. all the best
  24. i finally got 1 biner through it, but not my william. it is just very tight, and i am a begginer thank you
