  1. I use a pair of the Sena smh10r currently and looking at adding another one or two.

Just wandered how many you can pair together?

Also, I’m sure it’s more complicated, but pairing Bluetooth devices seems pretty straightforward.

Could you pair another brand of headset to a Sena?

I don’t have anything available to try myself, but wandered if getting a cheaper set to pair when needed would be compatible?

Anyone got both to give it a try?

  2. My t’s and c’s are based on the AA template within the arborist help documents as I’m sure many others are too.

I’ve had a customer question a section regarding 3rd parties claiming once the work is complete.

    It reads....

I would also like clarification of clause 21 in your terms of conditions. What sort of third party claims are envisaged as a result of felling this tree?

“21. The client is bound to indemnify the contractor from any claims from third parties arising after completion of the works.”

In all honesty, I’ve not ever had anyone question our terms and would be keen to give a correct answer to the customer.

I’m assuming 3rd parties would be neighbours, utilities, other contractors carrying out work??

In this case it’s a domestic property, down to remove a small tree and grind stump.

    I appreciate any advice

    Cheers

  3. If a box is occupied on the day of work I'm assuming that the work can't be done, because of the risk of disturbance.

Could you check prior to the works and temporarily remove the boxes? (replacing after completion of works)

That was my thought, although I’ve had a quote which is over half the cost of the tree work and comes with a detailed report which I don’t think is needed. I know that it will come with a cost due to the experience needed by the person doing the checks but I really can’t see my client justifying the extra costs.

It literally is check them, if they are empty crack on, if not get advise from the bat guys, but I need to be sure I’m covered on my part.
  4. I’m interested as to what people would do working near bat boxes.

The tree I have is being pruned along with another couple close by on the site.

There are a couple of boxes on the tree which will obviously need to be checked before commencing work, either the night before or morning of.

I’m looking to see what price I should be looking at for an ecologist/ licensed bat handler to come out and check them prior to starting.

The site is in Gloucestershire if that helps.

    Thanks

  5. If you need to edit a pdf, have a google there are a few sites that allow you to upload and convert it back to a doc file. Easy if it’s only one or two invoices that you need to edit but not sure it would be that good if you had lots to do.

  6. Hi,

My 200t off switch isn't cutting out the saw.

The cables have been replaces fairly recently and have checked them again and all seem ok.

Ive also checked the connection in the handle to make sure that is touching when in the off position and all seems to be ok.

is there anything else that could be causing the issue?

  7. Looking to add contacts to my list of subcontractors Climbers and groundies based in Cheltenham.

Climbers must be capable of carrying out all aspects of tree surgery to a high standard, and be efficient.!

Groundies must have cs30 and 31 as a minimum, an advantage to have 38.

Both must have own transport, be reliable and punctual.

Pm me with details, and rates if you are interested.

    Thanks

  8. The tree is a sycamore, home owner put the app in, and tree officer put it through after notice period.
A few other trees in neighbouring gardens have been hammered, so it’s my thought that’s where the home owner got the idea from.
From my previous dealings with apps, if the TO isn’t happy with the extent of works, they request to meet on site to discuss and come to mutual agreement with the client, or simply state what they are willing to allow.
Most tpo apps lean more to a far more sympathetic reduction.
It seems more like an app within a CA, where they don’t really care what happens to the tree.
Just found it different considering it’s tpo’d.

  9. Something that has probably been done many times before, but had me thinking today.

If the council have approved works to a tree with a tpo, but within their approval notice stated that the works should be carried out to bs 3998, yet the proposed works are to reduce a 15m by up to 7m, how can this be compliant with 3998?

As far as I read it, they are happy for the tree to be reduced by a maximum of 7m which would pretty much leave a topped stem.

I’m thinking they have little care as to what happens to the tree, and it would be better to replace and replant.
