  2. Scratch my head many a time over this, work on schools, highways, woodlands, property and call out cover.Run couple of 7.5 ton Ivecos, tracked chippers and 130 landys
  3. Whats your views on best combination for tree work with regards vans and chippers, what works best for you? Always wanted Unimog with chipper on front but are they good as they look?
  4. Stick with it mate, your qualifications will go a long way to securing a future in this business as you need a ticket for every thing. i got more qualification in this type of work than i ever could at school and its paid off for me
  5. Thanks for that, Hows Broomfield, I spent a few years down there on various courses some years ago, i believe it had some changes?
  6. Hi, I'm wanting to do a Foundation Degree in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry, dose anyone know of good colleges? How did you find this course if anyone as already completed it?
  7. <p>Hi, Im wanting to do a Foundation Degree course in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry, dose anyone know of a good college to go to, I live near Derby and all colleges are miles away. Any advise much appriciated</p>

  8. Good replies, mind you i was like him once---- quick climber not spotty. he stays for time being as i can earn some cash out of him
  9. What can you do when you are out climbed by a spotty boy? who on breezing passed you says "Keep up old man" is it time to hang up your harness or Sack him?
  10. <p>Preparing for that day your body says enough is enough. Any views on training for the day your out climbed by your son with some flipant comment as he pass you "Old man!"</p>

  11. With the country short of money as this had an effect on your workload, may sound silly question but we got work booked up to April
  12. I've climbed in all weathers to get jobs done specialy when you are all set up, as a boss sending teams out in adverse weather is another question, how much or little do you expect them to do?
  13. I have had 540T on tracks, on demo last week, excellent machine but good all rounder is 530t on tracks, covers all our needs and can get it in tightest of spots and through padestrian gates, so we are getting another
  14. We have had Jenson 540T for 3 working days on demo, our verdict is it is a very good machine with wide spread on tracks for banks, got some power and cope very well with what we through at it and fits on trailer we use for 530T, only down side was that lads did not get on with feed roller cut off bar (we had fold up rear shoot) each time they fed owt in they caught it and it was a pain to reset, also when you fed large cord wood in it would vibrate the bar again to stop rollers, may be a fine tweek would resolve it. In my hubble opinion an ideal machine for power line work or on highways were you have space but not great on property work, even with shoot off it struggled through gates that 530 managed easily. Considering having winch put on, Redwood say they fit 4 ton pull, but will stick to 530T as this best suits us
  15. Tried most mainstream chippers, wheeled and tracked but Jenson 530 on track is best by far as general all rounder
  16. Got 540T coming next Monday for 3 days, was only let us have it for a day but you carn't judge it in that time, interesting comment on folding back shoot
  17. If tree is dead and being an ash if you fell it in a large lumb it probably shatter into lots of pieces and spread a wide area when it hits tarmac, be careful how close T/M is set so standing traffic don't get in firing line
  18. After 5 years work its ready for changing, going by our last one we sold (we have 3) we got a great price as it was so not worth over spending on it.
  19. Got demo 6th Nov, will put it through its paces, was hoping for weeks trail but may only get it for day
  20. Have to agree with you, lads love ours
  21. I hope they don't fell them all on top of each over, takes so much longer tidying up than clearing as each tree is felled. Good luck mate
  22. Def going to demo 540, finding it hard to find something as good as Jenson
  23. Don't charge by hour, quote for all work. Been stung before so price agreed before i turn up. Customers don't always appreciate what it takes to do our line of work and expense of out lay
