Results are ‘obscene’, say unions, after soaring oil and gas prices help company to beat forecasts

Selective reporting there Mark! You fail to mention the huge cost its had to soak up for getting out of Russian Oil Company ROSNEFT, or its plan to pay in excess of £1 Billion in UK tax this year.
BP hasn’t personally driven up the costs of O&G, they just benefit from the current inflated market price. Conversely they all took massive hits when the oil price crashed.
I know it irritates the socialists but thats supply and demand I guess…

And seeing as only 4.4% of the population of the UK are Muslims (the folk who use mosques) that argument doesn't hold much water imho.

But we don’t have proportional representation so I guess it does matter Eggs.
Corruption is corruption, it’s endemic in many immigrant home countries, particularly South Asia.

  3. Not sure if I’ve missed it previously by not paying attention - turns out the porn king is Niel Parish.

Always found him a highly disagreeable type.

  4. If the reason for producing an ID card was to stop voting fraud I wouldn't have a problem with it, but we all know that isn't the case.

Voting fraud, abuse of NHS and the only practical way of actually finding out who is in the country seem like valid reasons for some sort of NID system.
Perhaps don’t make it mandatory to carry at all times, BUT required for the above?
However given that the Gov can’t even crack the admin to issue veterans ID cards…..

  5. I’d agree in regards voting ie the day you rock up at the polling station, but definitely not the carrying of an ID card as an everyday requirement.

I’ve never understood why so many are against the requirement for a national ID card. The requirement to be able to prove one’s identity should not be an issue for anyone who’s on the right side of the law?

I cut one up like that for a customer which had been covered in fruit, I was all for leaving it but looked too untidy for her. I think it'll carry on more or less indefinitely like that, just keep it propped and fill in the hole round the roots if you can.

Thx Dan, would you cut back the roots that are now above ground?

  8. If anyone is looking for single cameras for yard security, livestock surveillance etc I wholly recommend Farm Stream:

Some of those arriving on small boats will be sent to the country as part of a £120m trial. If someone from Rwanda was claiming asylum in the UK, would he be sent back? Answer is no, covered in the treaty, supposedly...

They wheel out the favourable, right-wing stuff just before local elections on May 5th in order to throw a bone at the people who thought Boris was a saviour but now rightly think that they've been betrayed by the gov. They'll soon send Boris into oblivion for his shitehawk behaviour, and then continue to piss on us and tell us it's raining.

Let’s hope the deterrence factor kicks in and these economic migrants either stay home or in France!

There is some complete and utter shite on there, but there's also some really good stuff, I don't tend to watch TV, I just watch shows that I like the look of online.

You'd think that good media would get picked up but that's just not the case a lot of the time.  My mate does a radio show and he's kickstarted the careers of some big names, there's no way that they would have got there without his intervention and help.

Not very often we agree Mark😀

I’m the same mate, watch little tv in general and then only when I’m working.. usually YouTube stuff then.

Fair enough, it's fair to say that it's not being subsidised in any way though.

Independent media companies won't get noticed by the big players without exposure from things like Film 4, when they get noticed then Netflix etc snaps them up; in a similar vein, that's why local radio like BBC introducing is so important in promoting new bands.

I suppose that depends on what you define as 'decent' content.

I’m not sure C4/ BBC Introducing make that much difference. Good/decent media be it film or music will get picked up… and ideally much of the dross wouldn’t.
iMHO the main channels should concentrate on mainstream and leave the fringe stuff to subscription or indie.
You not agree Mark, there is some serious shite on C4?

    • Haha 1
  12. Film 4 have commissioned some cracking films.

You're missing the point though, all this libtard, fringe, oddball viewing actually generates money for the public purse, not the other way round.

Nope sorry Mark, we’re both factually incorrect… it neither makes or loses money… supposedly all profits go back into program making. But also read…

“unlike other broadcasters, it doesn't make its own shows - they are all made by independent production companies.”

So I would guess the decent content would get picked up by other media companies if they didn’t want to continue selling to a privatised C4.
  13. Yes Channel 4 is self funding, they buy/commission tv shows and films from independent media companies, if channel 4 was to go then these independent companies will lose a large chunk of their revenue, hence the anticipated loss of 2,400 jobs and 60 companies.

Life would be pretty dull without art: no music, no films, no painting, no photography, no architecture, no design...
Art enriches us all culturally, whether you like it or not.

Personally I couldn’t give a stuff… I would guess 80% of C4 content is utter garbage, bowing to the Libtard, fringe, oddballs of society…
IMHO that sort of content should be on a subscription basis, and not paid for/supported out of the public purse.

“no music, no films, no painting, no photography, no architecture, no design... “

You forgot: No “Naked Attraction”, No “The Pride Collection” in ur list of cultural content 🥱

  14. Fastfix are having a sale on, EA4300 at £295 and EA5000 at £460. Really tempted, it's so much less money than a 261.  Slightly down on power, 2.8kW vs the 3.0kW of the 261 but can fit an exhaust from the previous model to get rid of cat.

Then again my old 261 keeps on going and it's been a good saw.

But at least I know not to buy an Echo.

Plenty of happy Echo users out there Dan[emoji106]

  15. Ya reckon he'd pull that stunt without consulting Patel, Johnson et al? These people speak to each other in a civilised way behind the scenes. I don't think he could pull it off on his own, no conspiracy, I just don't thinks it's possible. Wasn't Dicks contract extended by two years just recently which Khan backed?

That article is a month old. They have effectively been cut in half since then.

They don't (as far as I'm aware) have a price cap, which means if you're on a flexible tariff then you're exposed. But the severity of the price increase was sufficient that the government stepped in to provide assistance. So unlike the UK government, which is seeking to claw back over half the assistance given, the Swedish government will pay up to £165/month for the three months from December to assistance householders.

We are living in an inflationary society. Energy particularly. This is why we are very keen to generate as much as we can with our own house. Frustratingly, the time when we really need a lot of electricty is mid winter, but given that the part of Sweden we're moving to receives 40% more sun than where we are in England, the payback time period on solar is quite short.

J, 50% of a 266% increase is still significantly more than we have seen so far in UK.

Why should the government (taxpayers) fund peoples energy usage? People seem to forget that the country is broke!

This whole push towards “net zero” is utterly unworkable at this time, given the limited renewables and nuclear availability. If you want green…you gotta pay for it!
As I’ve said before IMHO this whole renewables issue is smoke and mirrors, Boris will do anything to try and stay in power and its backfired…putting us in a strategically weak position, and at the mercy of global energy prices.

So how do we fix this in the short-mid term?

The UK is literally floating on natural gas, on and offshore, yet we import the stuff from USA……green energy my arse!

I guess we either tap it, or accept that these inflated energy prices are here to stay!

    Indeed.

For reference (because I have to track these things now I have a house there) in Sweden, the electricity price spiked in December but has come down almost 50% in January.

I wonder if we'll get a similar reduction here?

With Swedish electricity prices up 266%, a 50% reduction appears far from a return to an affordable solution, sounds idyllic!

Some 1.8 million households are affected, the government said.

Swedens views on immigration are truly misguided. It’s destroying the country and destabilising it at the time. Intentional? I guess time will tell. But if you wish to run from the event horizon of globalisim there’s few places left in the western world.

Id plum for Canada info was a bit younger,

Canada has pretty liberal views too, particularly concerning immigration. Pretty much every Lebanese Muslim I’ve met seems to have Canadian residency.
Not sure I could tolerate living in a state run by that clown Trudeau!
