    First, sorry about the lousy picture. Fruiting bodies spotted on an old lime pollard, mainly near the old pollard heads and reaching up some now dead regrowth. There are some more small fruiting bodies though below the old pollard head. Any help appreciated - thanks

    Thanks David - I'll try to get back to the tree and llift a fruiting body to see what is going on. I doubt if I have stumbled onto a new discovery but never say never. I'll go with the Ganoderma resinaceum id for now though. Thanks for your help.

    Found this at the base of a bramley apple. The tree is in a raised bed with 3 brackets present. There is gravel on the surface of the bed that has been absorbed by the fruiting body. The fruiting bodies smell of mushrooms and are squidgey. There are areas of dead bark where the bodies are joined to the stem and white mycelium? beneath. The tree is dying back badly with very few of this years leaves left and very small fruit. Just wondered if it could be Inonotus dryadeus? If not, any ideas?

    Hi all Just looked at a 25 year old cedar in a back garden with browning of some needles. This is starting at the lower branches of the tree, the upper crown is unaffected so far. There are plenty of new shoots near the affected ones. There is no history of environmental change at the site. The tree has been getting worse of a period of three years. I've attached a couple of pictures to see if it helps. I'm thinking it looks like needle blight (sirococcus conigenus) but can't find much info that is based in the uk. Many thanks in advance Julian

    Just wondered how you all load your barrow bags with logs? We deliver loose loads and small nets at present but barrow bags may help some customers. I'm not sure I can face loading barrow bags by hand so how do you all do it? Cheers Jules

    H14 (PTO) for me too - I like the way you can control the speed by selecting the correct gear and you feel in control. Mine also feels bulletproof. The only down side I can think of is that the bearings on the pto shaft are a little hard to come by - my local prop shaft company did the business though when it needed rebuilding. Best of luck

    My eldest aged 8 - I found that a kids harness is a good idea as they could slip out of an adult harness due to their hips not being developed enough. It also has a slightly higher anchor point which stops them going over too far backwards. Time spent with your kids is precious, you will never get it back. Spend it having fun and creating memories

    We have done charcoal with it - it releases its heat fast and doesn't last as long as hardwood. Blew a concrete slab in half with it by accident, burgers all over the place!! We also sell it as logs. There is a market I think. We also sell mixed loads, soft for getting fire hot (I agree with Face Cord), hard for keeping it hot. I really like the idea of an outside pizza oven though. We have also supplied some charcoal to a local blacksmith, he supplements his coke with it. Oh just remembered, we've got to know a local farmer who has the biggest log burner in the world and anything goes in it, so the really bad stuff goes there. Hope this helps.
