  1. It's optional though, they are not going to come round and snatch it off you if you want to keep it :confused1:

i thought that, though after speaking to the guy at radmore he said its now a factory recall because the saws are deemed unsafe to use...

i don't know what would happen if you refused to cooperate, who would be at fault should something happen??

1/4 drive sprocket came through today, speedy service as ever from chainsaw bars :001_smile:

getting the standard sprocket off of the 280 is an absolute bastard. you can get hold of a special tool to do it, or you can use a 12mm spanner. ill attach a pic

  2. ive got one of these, so far i love it over the ms150 ( though that chain is a cleaner cut).

noticed it started running like it was badly out of tune. Then i remembered i had read on here that the air filter needs a air line clean to keep it good. quick clean and its running great again.

Ill be honest ikeep meaning to read the whole of this thread, not random posts days apart lol.

what i did have yesterday though was one of the guys started it up and it was screaming away, chain racing very fast with out the throttle on.

took the rear off and couldnt understand why. then noticed a spring just sitting inside, to the left of the carb.

after a while the only thing i could figure it was was a spring to keep constant pressure on the idle adjuster. Once i screwed the idle down it was fine again.

    anybody else had this happen

the saw has been recalled ! haha

  3. I bought a catch for the Pantin from gustharts - solves the issue -

I use a hand ascender and krab to make an advantage system that i can pull myself back in on if going out on a limb, or i look to see if i can redirect further out above - or use my lanyard as a DRT system - or just jump off the branch and take a swing...

I think Boots sell some stuff that will be good for your hands - ManUpCream i think its called :P -

Serious note though, i stick to slightly thicker ropes - 11.7 -12mm is my preferred - thin stuff like blaze is too skinny for my big paws. Also gloves help if you dont mind getting them jammed in your hitch.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I've ordered the catch, hopefully it will arrive today.

What do you think of the Kong ascender?

  4. i actually ditched my 200 out of a tree (lanyard snapped) the other day. about 40-50 foot up, hit a lower branch before getting to the ground.. bent the bar and cracked the exhaust....

anyway, the point i was going to make was that we managed to bend it back straight enough so that it works. thats a sugi pro lite btw.

  5. received the 280 today, easy swap thanks to the guys at radmore. Ive just had a look and the 2510 sprocket wont fit the 280, so for those of you thinking of running 1/4 inch cutting gear, either try to get the 280 ordered up with that sprocket... or buy one afterwards!

in terms of weight, and general size the 280 is somewhere between the 200t and the little 2510

    lovely build quality

  6. Heya all, just a quickie. Im seriously thinking about doing the level 4 in arb. was just wondering how people got on with the workload (and how much of it there was?) i would be going for the 1 day a week at college option....

    Thanks !

  7. Get some of the treemotionelastic and slide over a cover of another rope. Then tie two fisherman a knots in each end of the elastic and clip in a small bina.

    Or

Take a Lyon tape sling and out an overhand knot in the middle. Place over shoulders like a rucksack and clip a bina to pull the loops together. Use as a chest harness.

Both cheap and easy to set up.

Thanks rich, loving the profile pic btw

  8. out of interest, who uses a neck lanyard to advance the system when going up? i tried using my secondary line but found that putting weight on the foot loop caused the system to sit back a bit as it was biting, pulling the rope tight around my shoulder/neck.. on the other hand if i had the secondary line set more loosely it meant it wouldn't advance my system as much making the progress less efficient...

  9. been keeping an eye on this thread. Got my hands on a used RW which arrived yesterday....

quick climb up a smallish sycamore, thought it was great! getting back through natural re directs where the rope was at a fair angle from my initial anchor point was pretty difficult (where the limb used for the redirect is skinny enough to break)

generally loved it though, already easier than ddrt (spoken too soon i bet)

Im sure a big shot or being half decent with throw line would complement this system massively

  10. I'm going to use the 280 and then get the 2511 when it comes out... Worst case scenario is I don't like either and sell them for a profit?? I don't think that will be the case though

  11. I fit the steel cage needle bearing and a new clutch kit. Tends to do 1-2 years so not too bad.

I have seen old saws come in, no maintenance but perfect on clutch play, damn strange that Stihl didn't get it right on this saw:confused1: Have also had similar on 362s though....not good.

Heya spud, where do you source the steel bearing from if you don't mind me asking? My 261 needs a hug big time

  12. Hypothetically Joe the dealer would ask you to not use the saw and return it... All these Echo 2510 are going to be destroyed once they have been catelogued so I don't think it matters what condition they come back in.

I dare say a few people will continue to use their saws for a bit regardless...

Rob, do you know if the gb bar and gain combo will fit the 280? Thanks :)
