Thanks very much, I have around a 60 acre wood of mainly hardwoods to look after and tidy up, taking out fallen trees and branches but all areas cannot be accessed by my tractor, so I thought a winch would be a good idea. It would pull the sections of tree or branch to a place where I would be able to cut it up and load it into a trailer. Do you think it is a good idea to use it to pull a tree in the right direction when felling? What sort of maintenance does it require?

I have been looking into buying a winch for pulling out trees and big branches, but they can be quite dangerous. what are peoples views on them? what other equipment could I use which are more 'safer'?
