  1. How do you all deal with smaller diameter stuff if you get any?

We normally get 4-16" delivered but this load of thinnings was available.

95% won't be over 5" I guess and then maybe half of that won't even need splitting at all. If I could fully take out the splitter from the tajfun400 it'd be easy enough to do that way but I can't. Any suggestions?

I'd say look to get a Farmi WP36 in or similar where it's easy to get access to the splitting chamber and lift them onto the conveyor or as you say remove the axe altogether.

  2. Problem with one like mine is the ram doesn't go all the way to the footplate , so you can get caught out with different lengths , so I split them on the table thus.

My next step is to upgrade to a big vertical.

You should convert that to foot operated only. Thor have made it surprisingly easy.

The double pump is also recommended although not so easy to change.

  3. Check that the ram is retracting completely. It's possible that woodchips, bark etc can get lodged and compacted at the tail end, preventing complete retraction and causing the pump to strain and sound noisy.

It can be quite difficult to remove the very well compacted material due to the difficulty of access, I have found that the best approach is to use an electric drill.

Cheers :thumbup1: but it's not that, a screw driver and hammer works for me.

  4. I think it must be different in Scotland, I sure the volume that requires bunded is closer to 5000 litres, might be wrong though.

I had no issues getting 500 litres anyway and they'd have filled old 45 gal drums and that wasn't limited to one company.

Just remember diesel will go bad after a time so you need to order based on usage.

    Thanks

  5. Hello,

Hopefully the video link works :confused1:

The video is PTO driven WP36 at idle on 540PTO. It just sounds rough to me and was wondering what others with the same machine thought?

When running for an hour or so today the temp rose to 60 deg so i let it idle (when i took the video) as I'm sure it would have hit the 80 mark. The oil level is above the mark and it's not been overheated.

Pump sounds like it's on it way out??

    Thanks
