  1. Thats really nice. How did you do your eyes??
  2. Really good idea
  3. That sand O flex looks a really nice piece of kit. Where can you buy them from??
  4. Correct sized belts
  5. Hi, great little thread. 2x 441's on various bars. Biggest being 36" bar. Max is supposed to be 25" but they run the big bar with ease. I have had to use the 36" bar carving. 261 on a 13" and 16" bar. Its a really good little saw for bulk carving with the 13" 201 which has just replaced my 200. Good saw, I run it on a 12" carving bar usually but also have a 6" with it. Grinder, Make sure its a good one. They work hard. 40 grit flap paddle disks are worth their weight in gold. I also have a range of sabuur tooth disks. Beware these are lethal, I use the brown disk to most effect. Beware, hold on tight and respect if you use the orange (the most coursest) one. You have never experienced bulk carving like you can with a sabuur tooth. But when they bite and flick back you have no time to react. The green one bit me once, hit a knot, flipped back and before i could stop it it was spinning on my stomach. It made a mess. Black and decker powerfile. A must have, amazing piece of kit. Buy the belts off ebay, cheap as chips. Random orbital sander, great for finishing off. Arbortech mini grinder. Good tool, not sure its worth the money though. Clark mini torch, good for fine detail. Also a larger torch for bulking. Electric hot knife, really good for fine detail. Sanding sealer, great for preventing splitting. Danish oil, adds a nice finish. If anyone were to buy anything from this list id advise black and decker powerfile. Makes life so much easier. Just make sure you buy the correct sized (length) off eabay. some make longer ones and there not as good. Hope this helps someone
  6. Thank you so much, That complement really made me smile. I cant wait to see it finnished. Its been at a friends engineering company for over 2 years now waiting for him to build a really nice base. Im now starting to think he's well and truly taking the piss now. Its a real shame though as he is really good. I can do chainsaw work, but nice steel work is out of my league
  7. Hi guys, Id love a little help if anyone can help me. Months ago I remember seeing an advert on here for a company that sold a sheet that sat at the bottom of the pickup, Then a handle was fitted to the tailgate and you could wind the load out. For the life of me I cant remember what the company was called and cant seem to find it on here anymore. Any help or info would be hugely appreciated. Thank you, James
  8. Its easy to do. You just do little bits now and then when you have the time. Each one of these took me weeks to finish. Worth it though
  9. After seeing a springer spaniel before handing this carving over, Its head was modified which resulted in a very much more realistic carving . The new owners loved it, thats all that matters.
  10. Its the way we all started mate. Very nice and good luck with future creations
  11. The head gave me a serious headache. About the most difficult thing ive ever carved. The main problem I had is I only had 1 photo to go off. If I had a springer sat with me while carving I think I would of done a better Job. Still, its the first dog ive ever carved. The springer has such an expreshional face, and copying that with a chainsaw, I found hard . I'll get better with time and more practice im sure. Providing the family like it, Im happy
  12. A carving for a family who lost a beloved pet, I hope I did "woody" justice.
  13. A different angle from when i was making it
  14. My 3 seater reclining chair
  15. Thank you for the many many Kind complements The way the chair is sat the water drains out on its own. And it is an outside piece, my house is not big enough for this to be inside lol. I have made a 3 seater chair out of the same tree. Each seat set at a different reclining position. I just need to make a base for it but im really not sure how to make one to complement the chair without spoiling it. Ill put a picture up of it to show how it is at the moment.
  16. This chair still looks stunning sat in my garden You get so much pride when you can make your own furniture. Makes me smile everytime I see or sit in it
  17. Thank you so much. Thats one hell of a complement in my eyes
  18. The bench is only loosly put together in the picture. When it was put in its final position wedge slivers were knocked into the gaps to hold everything tight. Its the first bench ive ever made and it worked well. If I were to make another one I would not do the owls again either. But I just get something into my head and just fancy having a go. I made this more for advertisement reasons really. By all means copy, thats the great thing about this forum, it gives us all some inspiration to have a go at new things.
  19. I like that a lot. How much do these retail for??
  20. Thank you. The hollows are going to have flowers in them and they will have a little hole so that water can escape.
  21. A little bench I made
