  1. Hi, I have large quantities of lower grade cordwood for sale - chainsaw stuff, although some will go through a processor. Price reflects grade.
  2. Hi, - perhaps 'pushed it through' is the wrong term but the way I understand it is HSE said either the industry does it or they will - exactly what happened with construction. Once it has come in HSE will come and look at Arb - there's more chainsaw users in Arb than forestry and probably more accidents. I'm not against refresher training but this is just a scatter gun with no reference to an individuals or companies safety record. I dont think they've even though about the type of accident - ie if all the accidents are relating to say the tree felling element then that's what they should concentrate on at refreshers - instead of just repeating the training course.
  3. Hi, I have a 2013 Ranger. I had a 2008 and it was fantastic. The new one isnt great if I'm honest. The gearing is all wrong and you spend all day up and down the gears. Also, off road you can never seem to hit the right gear. The engine is smaller (2.2) than the previous and it is a bit sluggish in low gears - although hp may be more - dont know. Drove my wifes car over weekend then got back in pickup and was surprised at how sluggish it was. It's not well built either - a bit tinny. Oh and I know 2 others who have one and we all have a funny glitch in second gear if the revs are down a bit. Good points - its massive and I can get 3 kids in car seats in the back (crew cab). It is a dream when towing - any weight up to 3.5 tonne no problem - seems to iron out all the nasty gear glitches when you've got weight on. It's great on the motorway - did 2,000 miles in France and it was brilliant. Load area is big too. It's really comfortable.
  4. Forestry is bringing in FISA (Forestry Industry Safety Accord) - it means everyone in forestry will have to update training every 5 years. The HSE have pushed it through the industry - once forestry has it implemented it will move on to Arb. Most people in the industry not that happy with the way it's being done.
  5. Looking for a forwarder operator on a contract basis - reading/basingstoke area. To operate Valtra N101 tractor with timber crane. Mainly road work moving cordwood to customers - but some in-wood work if wanted. 2 to 3 days week - hours flexible. Paid on a per load basis - so opportunity to earn good money - with guaranteed minimum per day. Also paid to do maintenance etc.
