yeah I'll bet, thanks everyone for the input, I will definitely keep on subbying as I get my tickets, I think I have enough experience of work and businesses and life in general to make a go of it though, like the man said, got to start somewhere...

After getting CS30 and 31 and getting a bit of experience subcontracting to other firms I've recently put an application into the Prince's Trust for funding for training and kit with a view to starting my own tree care business. Has anybody else done this through PSYBT or others? Any stories, wisdom, advice to share with a someone starting out in the industry? (I'm sure you do..) thanks...

So, with any luck I'll be starting my own arb business and buying a vehicle in the next six months. What vehicles do people use? What's good, what's not? Cheers

yeah small claims court, I went through the process a while back and it didn't cost a penny, did it through the citizens advice, what a great service they were! fair enough its only a small sum of money but it's the principal of the thing, if you did the job they shouldn't get away with shitting on people. but i would say dont dump stuff on their drive, just brings you down to the same level. Everything above board!

thats how i started too, labouring on building sites and wanting to do something more interesting with better money, better prospects and less standing about! just starting out out but since getting my chainsaw ticket have has (fairly) steady work. seems like a good path...

You and me both mate. I highly recommend getting NPTC CS30 & 31. I did it at Oatridge college ( A vibrant campus in the country? — Oatridge College ) . Made getting work in the industry much more viable, and was a great experience. Good luck.

I've just recently completed my CS30 and 31 with Chris White at Oatridge college. I'm based in west Glasgow. Looking to work hard and gain experience and a foothold in the industry.
