  7. Hi There first of all where do you want to work? once decided then look, Oz is a pretty big place, im in Sydney and been here 2 years now, going for permanent residence in May if Sydney or NSW is you place i can put you on to a few companies Steve
  8. Heads up on the immigration side, seem to be starting to make it harder to get into oz, quite a few business visas have been removed, the 457 visa still remains bit it's now a skill select visa and the process has changed a little, if anyone is planning to do the jump the don't delay, also make sure you choose the right employer because you must stay with that employer for 2 yrs before you can go for permanent residence, this is what has just happened to me, I changed employer and now have to complete an extra 7 months until I can go for permanent residence , food for thought
  9. Most firms in oz like to trial you, if you can get a firm to sponsor you then follow that route, I may be able to put you on to someone, PM me Cheers Steve
  10. Hi Arran your age and ability will be very favorable in Oz or Nz, there seems to be a gap in the industry for climbers like yourself, i have quite a few good contacts in Oz so just PM me and i can hook you up,
  11. Hi Ricky, sent you a pm be carful when planning to go to Oz on a holiday and have job interviews lined up. if they find any evidence of doing this you will be on the next flight home, that means carring any documents, references and so on, if you can ring companies direct, this means getting you times right and calling during work hours, choose your area first try all the big firms, AUTS, City wide, Active trees, to name a few join Aussie tree forums eg treeworld , (this is how i got my job) all these will help, a lot of tree firms ask for white cards, these are a health and safety card essential for commercial work not sure if you can do these in the uk but its no issue doing it once your here we will give your a trial if your serious about coming out for a month keep me informed
  12. Hi i dont think you can travel with your children, i just did a visa wizard search on immi.gov and it states no dependents on the WHV 417 visa,if you would like to send me your CV i can put it to my director for sponsorship??? steve
  13. Hey Joe No worries, keep in touch and maybe we can help when the time is right for you steve
  14. Hey RANGO, you love me really, i told you we'll match ya wage if you come back this way, i think $3 per hour is fair for you naah your a great climber dude always a pleasure to work with hopefully see you soon
  15. Hi if your in your 30th year I'm sure you can still get a WHV, yes you can transfer to PR once you have completed 2 years in the same trade, it's also in your favour to stay with the same employer, you can follow 2 routes at that point, either apply for PR Independantly or have your employer sponsor you for PR, you are not tied to the employer at that point, it's just them confirming your ability and commitment to the trade Hope this helps If you go to immigration.gov website and use the visa wizard it will tell you if you can get a WHV, if you can do it as you can get out here and start working
  16. Hey dude congrats on getting the climbing job in melb, let me know how you get on........ ps, you'll be fine as long as they dont see you climb or cut trees:001_tt2:
  17. Hi do you mean NPTC's , you can get them converted but it does cost quite a bit, before i came out i thought that they were world wide recognised but not the case, i dont really understand why they dont accept them because when you look at the TAFE cert 3 arb course it basically follows the same as all my NPTC certs, i guess it must be a money spinning excessive
  18. To all who have contacted me through the company email we are having internet issues, please pm me and i will give you my personnel email address many apologies steve
  19. what is it like to work for your company? did you find the job out there or did go to oz spercificly for this job your in now? thanks for the help mate means alot regards sam We're a small family run firm, basically the operational side is justin and myself as management with 2 teams of cutters, we have 2 women in the admin side, we work hard, but pay over the average wage as we found out from benr on here, ben came to work for us and he will give you an honest opinion, i like working here and ive gone through my fair share of companies as a cutter to a project manager. being a small firm we have tight budgets so as you can imagine it can be pretty full on at times, i have learnt so much in the short time here and done some of the biggest tree's in my career, if your not shy of hard work you'd love it here the life you can give yourself here especially in the northern beaches is fantastic so to have this life i dont mind doing a good days work. i will be biased as im management but my director justin is a firm man but very fair and if you'd like to come over and have a go your more than welcome
  20. AH bugger we have had issues with our internet, i received your email, i'll send the reply from my personnel email tomorrow, sorry about this, steve
  21. Hi Western ok age is a biggie, how old are you?, this will dictate what visa you can get, work is easy to arrange if you here, but saying that i'd call/ email companies in the area you want to try, OZ is very diverse and choosing the right place is essential or you may not enjoy your stay as much, as for kit saws wont go through customs as they will carry wood dust they will probably get confiscated, or you get a big cleaning bill, climbing kit is fine, make sure its clean, i'd get a new bag to carry it in, less chance of them wanting to investigate, Sydney has lots of tree companies and they all work there nuts off, tree work here is hard, coz everything is bigger, work ethics are different shall i say, i bought new hi flex trouser out with me, now its way to hot to wear them so i wear work trousers ,or board shorts if not climbing and its the norm, but if you get caught not wearing safety glasses workcover will jump down your neck:confused1: qualifications is a strange one, they dont recognise NPTC, but if you attend a college they will recognise your time spend and you can do a trade recognition test through the T.R.A, so if your under 30 or in your 30th year get a working holiday visa, get out here and get working if your over 30 then sponsorship is you best and quickest way, a 457 business visa is the one now , the aussie immigration people change there standards, and demand lists like the wind last time i looked Arborist was not on the SOL list but ..... it falls on another list that is limited to the number of applicants in each state... i think... go to immi.gov and have a look at the sol list, its a huge list of every job the country is short of skilled workers cant remember the name of the list i got through on but basically its a kind of loop whole where Arborist is under gardener so i didnt need to do a skills assessment through the TRA it all sounds very complicated but its not search sydney tree companies and you'll see how many there are, treeworld website is excellent and its where i found my job, chap called eric is the founder and he will answer you questions , if not someone will steve
  22. just get the WHV sorted now, you dont have to leave just because you have a visa, once you got it they cant take it off you, sort the visa then decide if you want to do it, a WHV costs about £110, id rather loose 110 bucks than regret not going, once your here and earning its so much easier, we will help in any way we can steve
