  1. Alright you lot? I'm just renewing my Professional Indemnity insurance and spotted a clause referring to sub-contractor agreements. Basically they are only insured if I have a written agreement with them. Do any of you hairy arsed apes have these with your subbies? And if so did you have the agreements drawn up by a legal professional or did you scribble something down on the back of a chain box?
  2. Hey kids, Might finally be time to retire my trusty Vermeer 625. It has been a strong and reliable piece of kit, all be it a little slow. Does anyone have any experience of the BC160XL? I can't find much online about them but they're really compact and from what I've seen, as quick as any other chipper. Not sure anything comes close regarding over-engineering and longevity. "Ernie" has 3600 hrs on the clock and still as strong as ever. Any info gratefully received.
  3. Looking for seasoned climber for freelance sub contract work in Bristol. Must have own saw and PPE. Friendly and easy going working conditions. No flogging to death or hectic schedules to rush around for. Always plenty of time on each job. Must have professional attitude. Email [email protected] or give me a tinkle - 07974771409 Sensible day rate. If we finish early I'll buy you a pint. Bristol based. Cheers Rich - Green Planet Tree Services
  4. Stolen from locked toolbox tonight 23 March 5.30 - 7.30. Long Ashton Bristol: MS201 top handle, BR420 leaf blower, bag of climbing gear (Komet harness, Marlow rope, last of the Petzl ball lock carabiners, slings, prusik loops etc) and the worst thing, my Kelly kettle! Subby had his van broken into this week too. Long reach hedge trimmers taken from the garden WE WERE WORKING IN last month! Bristol needs some pest control. There's a fun fair here at the moment..
  5. Alright kids? Got loads of work on and carpal tunnel issues so struggling to keep up. Looking for seasoned climber for sub contract (possibly employment next year). Must have own saw and PPE. Friendly and easy going working conditions. No flogging to death or hectic schedules to rush around for. Plenty of time on each job. Must have professional attitude. Possible team leader role next year if things go to plan. Email [email protected] or give me a tinkle - 07974771409 Sensible day rate and free coffee. If we finish early I'll buy you a pint too. Bristol based. Cheers Rich - Green Planet Tree Services
  6. Alright kids...? I'm looking for reliable climbers in Bristol to help out with work over the summer with a view to forming a long-term working partnership. Safe and professional workmanship a priority. Must also be prepared to get involved with the odd ground work/clearance job too. Email [email protected] for more info. Cheers Rich
  7. Alright kids, I'm looking for a subby climber and groundy for work in the Bristol area. Give me a tinkle or email if interested - immediate start. Rich - 07974 771409 EMAIL [email protected] Cheers
  8. Hi Kids, I've just dragged my new (second hand) Vermeer 625 wood chipper home and immediately started looking for a user manual. Vermeer say if I give them the serial number they'll send me one. So... does anyone know where they hide the serial number on these things? I've been all over it can't see it anywhere. As always, any help gratefully received! Cheers now Rich
  9. Just unpacked and assembled mine but as soon as I tighten up the captive nut the chain gets pinched between the sprocket casing and the plastic guide block. It holds it solid! Is my shiny new 201 faulty or what? I've had it apart 3 times and can't see anything wrong.
  10. Cheers you lot. I'm massively impressed - 2 pages in 1 day. Nice one! Looks like a toss up between Stihl 362 and 441 then. I recognise the Husky v Stihl thing but there's a Stihl dealer just up the road plus it says Stihl on my gloves. My hat does have an H on it though. Is that allowed? Thanks again.
  11. Alright kids? I'm just starting out and wanted advice on best all-round chainsaw. Been told that Stihl 441 is a good all rounder but seems a bit big? A few hours swinging one of those about you're gonna feel it. Will obviously need a 200t for climbing work but what d'ya reckon?
