  1. Tonight my workshop was burgled. A few power tools were stolen. All my carvings were left alone, several weeks worth of hard graft. I wouldn't have minded so much except that they torched the place. It was gutted and so am I. No insurance as it was considered too vulnerable and insecure. Why couldn't they just have robbed me? Scum.
  2. Been carving with a pair of 357xps as my normal saws for years and I love them. Obviously have a variety of saws for big cuts etc. The other day I borrowed JohnP's 560XP for half an hour and gave it a good beasting. WOW. Just got to get one, impressive machine !
  3. Shot blasted? Lovely work btw. Hopefully the arch will survive the woodburner this winter as it's so mild!
  4. Husky 357XP, my standard saw. Perfect in every way!
  5. Ithink it looks great! Even better if the height was varied to look like sea waves.
  6. got an 090av i'm going to be ebaying soonish.... was a runner a couple of years ago loads of compression. ignored it and it stopped starting. right wrist breaker to start!
  7. Wifey's Lion. Hopefullyyou can see it this time.
  8. Wellingtonia "Acoustic Chair" Very strange acoustic properties when sitting inside.
  9. I'll have a look for pics........might not show much though as we try to make the joints and wood/grain matches invisible Customers moan like hell if we don't!
  10. Another pic of the oak climbing frame in action.
  11. The oak dowel is easy, just drill cap and stem to size. Have to do the coach bolt thing now due to injury litigation the summer before last when a 14 yr old climbed on one at an event , cap came off and they ended up with a broken leg....................
  12. Very fat pieces of oak dowel AND hefty stainless steel coach bolts. I counter sink an oversizee hole for the CBs and pre drill pilot holes. Finally I plug the counter sunk holes with oak dowel that match the grain so it's almost invisible.
  13. and here is one of my lovely wife's pieces. Wellingtonia again but painted.
  14. Hollow oak climbing frame 8 feet high. Was totally solid when I started. Not doing that again!
  15. Wellingtonia on oak mushrooms. No longer have the 'tash!
  16. Cedar furniture, part of a collection for a N. Devon surf shop.
  17. Hi, i'm new here... I'm based in Taunton and am a chainsaw sculptor. I'm always looking for reasonably priced timber, especially oak, weillingtonia, robinia, yew, sweet chestnut, walnut, and cedar. I'm more than happy to take horrible odd shaped knotty stuff which is impossible to split for firewood, especially if it is forked. I'll pay a fair price and can collect from site. If necessary I can arrange a big lorry with big crane, cheers , and glad to have been directed to this top forum by john p, a top arbochap and allround superhero, james 07885 139827
